I agree. Didn't feel that way about Clausen or Quinn. Kizer however I think will be pretty damn good in the league. Pittsburgh, IMO, would be an ideal fit. Really wish the Dolphins would take him but that isn't happening.

I thought Quinn would be solid, definitely wasn't very high on Clausen. I think Kizer has all the tools you could want, and he's so young as well.

People say "as long as he doesn't go to a dumpster fire like Cleveland" but I think the Browns could be a good situation for him too. He wouldn't need to play at all this coming season. By the time he does see the field in 18 hopefully the Browns could have a decent team around him. We certainly have enough draft assets. Combine that with the tutelage of Hue and I think he could flourish.

Legendary scout Gil Brandt likes Kizer, but thinks he needs to go to a good team, just like Lax said. Kizer on the Cards paired with Arians would be dynamite. The Steelers with Haley would be pretty good too.

Didn't read this before posting but AZ would be good too. Having a year or three under Big Ben would really help Kizer I think. AZ, Palmer, he might be too rushed...maybe.

LOL...this is the last place I'd like to see him go. Playing off that lake makes it hard to throw the ball. Jim Kelly did just fine though and Kizer certainly has a cannon.

Palmer can play out the year, barring injury, and that's all I think Kizer needs in order to be an acceptable option as a starting QB. However, he needs more time to really tap into his potential and to become the Pro Bowler he truly could be. My biggest concern with AZ is the whispers that Arians might retire after a year or two; without Arians, the Cardinals are not a good landing spot. Maybe Shanny brings Kizer to the Bay with the 34th pick. Those would all be awesome situations.

thats if Arian's is even around long enough to see Kizer through. I cant remember what interview it was but he made it sound like he wants to get a qb this draft so that he isnt leaving the organization without one for the future. Which I took as he only has about 2 years left.

Great points. Believe me, living in Indy I'm fully aware of what Arians can do on offense. Pitt traditionally has the defense to help a young QB until he can get to Pro Bowl level. As long as he is not a Bear, Brown or Bill I think he will be just fine but some places are better than others for his development.

Looking at the 2nd round, and it looks like things could play out well for Kizer and his future. Plenty of organizations with established starters that could be looking for the heir apparent in the coming years. Saints, Steelers, Chargers, and Cardinals.

Jags at 35 (not sure if they will but Bortles sucks)
Chargers at 38 (i dont think they will)
Jets at 39
Saints at 42
Cardinals at 45
Browns at 52
Steelers at 62

Could be wrong, but I look at the Fournette pick as the Jags saying, "Here Blake. Here is your relief with a solid running back. Make us right by picking you."

I agree, but that would be a great situation for Kizer. Having a solid running attack could allow him to ease into being a good NFL QB.

The point is valid though. There are some great locations for him to go to and learn how to be a NFL QB before taking over.

If they take a second-round QB, how long are they willing to let that guy sit? What was it for Rodgers, three years?

Rodgers has more than three years left in the tank, no?

Perfect offense for him, though, in addition to the usual suspects.

I don't see how this is ideal. Unless Rodgers wants to retire early Kizer will never see the field.

Exactly.... Kizer sitting for 3 years is fine, but with 5 year deals, they HAVE to start him year four to see what they have... I don't buy Rodgers is retiring in 4 years...

Rodgers is turning 34 this year. You think they'll roll with a 38 year old Rodgers? Worse case scenario they can and Kizer becomes trade bait. But Rodgers has had an injury each of the last three seasons. There's a legitimate argument for them grabbing a quarterback in this draft.

Hoping for Steelers or Cardinals - heir apparent and good organizations to develop under.

Rogers has explicitly said he plans to play til he's 40, and with his mobility, he probably has 5 years left in him. The Packers won't be drafting Kizer to sit until Kizer's contract is up and he goes somewhere else anyway. If they do, they're really dumb.

I think it is a good point. Pack let Favre loose to get Rodgers starting and took heat at the time as too early/disrespectful to Favre. They are forward thinking enough to do it if they like him and have time to see if he is tits or not. If not, deep draft next year to take another shot and could validate two young guys backing up Rodgers with a couple years to let them duke it out behind the scenes.

What he plans to do and what will happen are two different things. If anyone should know that, it's him. This would be a near identical situation as they had when they drafted him. Farve planned on playing until he was 40 too.

Rogers is not Favre. He's more mobile and the NFL protects QBs better now than they did when Favre was in his final years. Burning a 2nd rounder that will sit for a minimum of 4 years, and perhaps not even resign with you at that point, when you have a plethora of other needs would be a Bear-like move for the Pack.

Packers won't be drafting Kizer, Gant will not be choosing ND.

How long did Rodgers sit behind Favre?

5 years-ish? The Favre situation is the exception, not the rule. How'd drafting Ryan Mallet work out for the Pats when they drafted the 'heir apparent' in the 3rd round?
