Yes the fact that there are 35 people picking Bama is a joke because they all just played follow the leader. The initial predictions did have some basis though. People close to Carter have said Bama will be the team to beat with UGA providing the most competition.

This. Hate on the Crystal Ball all you want... it's a very accurate reflection of the "mood" at any given time. That's really all it's supposed to be... so the level of veracity backing up predictions will differ from recruit to recruit. It is not actually supposed to reflect the "odds" of a school landing a player in the least... just who the perceived leader is or will be, even if that leader is by the slimmest of margins.

It should be called the "Mood Stone" not the "Crystal Ball"....someone suggest this to 247

Just like the 100% prediction for Roc Thomas going to Auburn. Everyone in the state of Alabama knows he would crawl to T Town if Saban wants him. But since they have a stable of RBs now, and are in the final two for Fournette it appears, Roc may be left out of Crimson - hence the 100% "mood" predictions for the Barn.

Thomas is going to be a stud. His film is off the charts crazy. He reminds me of Barry Sanders.

Yeah I agree and I hope he still comes to Bama. But I can see him choosing the Barn so he can get on the field more. He makes the highest classification in Bama high school football look like a bunch of pee wee league players. Whoever gets him is getting a good one.

The problem with the crystal ball is that they change predictions the day before, hours before an announcement. Then they praise each other, c'mon does not have any value!!

In response to a question on the 247 board Loy had this to say. "I don't believe that ND is the long shot here that everybody thinks they are and I also don't believe that he's the Alabama lock that everybody thinks as well, I don't get that vibe from him." Take it FWIW.

I've always thought UGA (& others) stood a better chance than ppl thought. Would still classify ND as a long shot though until I read something about his visit going amazing. Best case scenario Hand spurns Michigan and takes Carter's spot at Bama.

Loy is a bigger homer than Trinity

Per BGI, the staff is confident they can get a OV from Carter and Mouhon which would make this a successful visit. They are still on campus today.

It may sound pretentious as all hell, but when I hear a defensive stud speak it tends to tell me a lot... If they are articulate and well spoken I think, "ND has a shot", if they sound like any random member of Alabama's defensive squad I think, " yeah, no way in hell here,"

After hearing that interview, ND has a shot.

I agree with this. I always want to watch an interview to see how articulate and well-spoken a player is. That was my first impression of Carter when I watched the interview in the OP of this thread. The kid would fit in.

It sounds like ND gave this kid A LOT to think about. I especially liked his comment about ND being a National school and not just a regional one.

Need to get Carter, Mouhon and their parents on campus for an official. Hopefully the USC game. Carter's dad is from Chicago, sure there is family nearby. Would have loved to seen the meeting with Diaco.

Did he say top 3 at the end or did he just say "my top group" again?

If we got him and Andrew Williams, we could shift AW to de he's already at at least 260 and apparently he's overrated haha either way he could be excellent depth for the d line.

After that interview, I am pretty optimistic as long as we get him up here at least one more time and get to 10+ wins
