While the length isn’t yet certain, we do know that Maty Mauk‘s suspension will be more than the one-game variety.
Monday, Gary Pinkel announced that Mauk will remain indefinitely suspended from the football program. Additionally, the Missouri head coach confirmed that true freshman Drew Lock will start at quarterback for this Saturday’s game against No. 11 Florida because of Mauk’s suspension, which kept him out of this past weekend’s game for what was described as a violation of team rules.
Pinkel has steadfastly refused to specify the reason or reasons behind the punitive measures, and the coach maintained that tack today as well.
“I don’t ever talk about disciplinary issues ever,” Pinkel said. “That’s something they trust in me and I trust in them.”
Prior to his suspension, Mauk was 13 out of the 14 starters in the SEC in passing efficiency. In the first start of his collegiate career, Lock completed 21 of his 28 passes for 136 yards, two touchdowns and, most importantly, no interceptions as Mizzou beat South Carolina 24-10. maintained that tack today as well.
