All take all those bets. He gets drafted in the third

I don't know if it'll be in the third but he'll definitely be drafted. He has games like Florida State and then he goes dormant. A team will spend a 3rd-5th to see if they can mold him.

He can be a player in the NFL.

I believe Jarron will be drafted and will be a good player if he wants to be or he could be like Louis Nix. If you believe it's in the third round or second what are we betting here? Because I love my odds on whatever we are betting.

Make a chucks wager and I'll probably accept as long as it's not an outrage amount

Not to rip on Jarron more but I was interested in where ND guys might get drafted the next couple years and saw this. Sherm just more evidence

SOURCES TELL US "He's a character flag for us. He's talented but I just don't think he loves the game enough for me to back him in our room. Who doesn't love those long arms? We all do, but I think he's lazy and will head south as soon as he has more time and money on his hands."

Jarron is a true wild card in this draft. He could go as high as 4th round or as low as 7th round. True boom or bust candidate.

I think he has enough upside to warrant a late round pick considering most are crapshoots to make it in the league anyway. Then again, I also felt the same way about Romeo.

Jarron Jones Draft Profile – NFL.com

I've got to think sitting out the Navy game hurt Jarron. Feeds into this narrative about him. These guys notice that stuff.

In a not-unrelated note: I understand why, but it never stops being gross how much NFL types treat the draft as a meat market. They're like: Love that freaky physical trait we can mold. But if a guy is "quirky" or cares about something in life besides football, he's a character flag. People said similar things about Louis Nix, and even Manti Te'o. Drives me crazy.

Jarron Jones may not be the most dedicated guy in practice and the weight room, I've no idea. But we were better when he was on the field. Also he seems like generally a fine young man and there was never a whiff of trouble around him at Notre Dame. Plenty of serious "character flags" - ahem, Joe Mixon - will get drafted well ahead of him.

Football character and off the field character (Joe Mixon) are two different things. When they refer to football character it's about the drive and passion for the game. It doesn't by any means infer that he's a bad guy. It's just a term used that I wouldn't get to caught up in. Bill Parcells was one who believed if a guy didn't truly love the game and have the drive to get better he wouldn't draft him regardless of talent. He would take a guy with less talent but a guy who has a passion for the game because he felt he could teach a guy how to get better playing the game. He couldn't teach someone to love the game. Either you do or you don't. I have no idea if Jarron really wants to play the game at a high level but no question he has talent. Comes down to what's important to him in his life.

Same way at any profession. Some are content with backing up to the pay line and feeling there's a check in their hand, others skip the pay line and continue to study their craft and seek additional challenges.

I wouldn't want to draft a guy in the high rounds who didn't seek to be the best at their position and constantly worked at it. Particularly at their age when physical ability and drive is all on their side.

I get it.

Just retweeted a tweet saying that ND did a poor job advertising Kizer and him. Can't link it because I'm on mobile.

Kid did a pretty shitty job of advertising himself more than anything else.

Already took it down.

Maybe show up for more than one game your senior year and you'd get some shine?

Just spitballin' here.

It's his job to "advertise" himself with his play his SR. year. The tape doesn't lie and 90% of a GM's evaluation of a player is his tape.

Good for him. I hope going undrafted lights a fire under his ass.

Real cool Romeo, Ishaq and Jarron on the same line.

Has tremendous potential. The opportunity for greatness is there if he wants to take it.
