I know it's only Spring practice but these videos get me more and more excited for this year, if that was even possible. Troy looks like a beast, making his move there look genius. GAIII shows a ton of burst and pure speed. And love Booker. Guy is gonna be a great coach, let alone good recruiter. Kelly knows what he's doing.

Wasn't a fan of the long toss at the end with a wide open Eifert

When Coach Kelly said they were looking for a guy who would be the primary blocker as the #2 TE there is no doubt to me that it will be Troy, the dude is just a monster and will be ablel to set the edge perfectly, plus he has great hands and good speed to top it all off. I wasn't to sure about the move at first but now it looks to be the best fit for Troy and the team!

Practice Report: Day Seven update | Inside the Irish

Keith Arnold breaks down the practice clip play by play. Points out a lot of action I missed watching the video.

Here's the UND video so you don't have to search back through the thread.

I hope all the ND QBs can duplicate that pass thrown by Rees to Eifert. ND has a definite advantage with tall receivers but it won't be realized if the QB, whoever that is, can't make that throw. Floyd could have had about a dozen more TDs last year if ANY of the QBs could have thrown that pass with regularity.

NO practice Sunday. They return on Monday.

its too bad Rees somewhat underthrew the pass to Eifert. You can tell as he sort of had to slow down, luckily Jackson blew the coverage or it probably would have been a pick.

Jackson might have had a shot at a pick had he been lined up as rightfielder on the snap. No 6-0 CB is going to run downfield with a 6-6, 250 TE, who can run, and get around him to be position in front of him to make a pick. And had he been stride for stride with Eifert with the arc on the ball there is no way even with an NBA leap that a CB could bat that ball away. Eifert's slight adustment has the ball well in FRONT of his body.

Get real. Bobby Taylor, at 6-3, and an All-American could not have made a pick on the play.

And, it was a Fade not a Fly throw. Watch the QB's motion and loft on the ball. Like I said, "ND has a definite advantage with tall receivers but it won't be realized if the QB, whoever that is, can't make that throw."

Looked to me like he was running a "GO" route and the throw was suspect or Rees recognized defense and just got the ball out quick. From Jackson's positioning I hope it was a zone and the safety was just slow in getting over (no different from the past 20 years).

I can understand why Niklas was moved to TE. The other TE's all have the build of wide receivers. Can't see any of them with the bulk to be effective blockers in a tight formation. Niklas at least has the size to accomplish this type of assignment.

Maybe Koyack and Golic, but Welch has a pretty wide build. Nothing like Troy though.

Niklas is just a freak!!

I'm really excited about him at Tight End... Just the relatively brief shots of him in this video get me jazzed up about the future at that position!

I'd like to tie Lame Kiffen down in a chair and force him to watch this video over and over...and then...y'know... punch him in the face.

Watching Niklas on that practice video was eye-popping. The kid is jacked, and it seems apparent he was moved there for his size and ability to block.

Goodman actually looked pretty fast. I feel all the QB's minus Tommy put a zip on the ball when they throw. Obviously, a small sample.

Goodman never seems to get great separation, but apparently it's JUST good enough.

good for Goodman, after the last video with his fumble, everyone was writing him off... seems like he is back on everyone's good side again. :)

Loved the clip overall, gets me excited for football.

There have been a ton of clips of Atkinson throughout all of spring ball. I guess coach Kelly wasn't joking about getting him onto the field more.

I would love to see Goodman breakout, but I have serious, serious doubts.

Agreed, and this scares me cause he seems to be whipping our DBs in practice...no bueno for our DBs

That's how I feel about it. Goodman is the canary in the mine for our DB's. If he is killling it in practice, then we have serious problems in the secondary.

Just my opinion, though.

Good video, showed a lot about the team that maybe we didn't see in previous videos.

Particularly liked Jarrett Grace, Daniel Smith, Riddick and GAIII.

Loved to see Goodman... looks great so far this spring.

Never get tired of seeing Golson's arm strength.

Pretty deep ball by Kiel for the TD.

Tate Nichols is an absolute beast. Seemed to handle Lynch well in the drills we were shown.

On the d line, KLM looks fantastic and is really coming on strong after his surgery. Also love the way Sheldon Day is playing in his first exposure to college ball.

Loved the Ben Councell burst through the line and take down of Toma.

I had Daniel Smith and Councell/Grace as my breakout performers and see no need to deviate from that just yet.

Getting super excited to see it all at the spring game. Go Irish!

Goodman is fast and is a senior. He should be able to get enough separation against most college corners at this point is his career, let alone some kids with no starts.

George looks awesome running the ball but looked terrible, and terrified in the pass protection drill. He won't play as much as it appears he will if he doesn't get that figured out (see Cierre Wood 2 years ago)

I liked seeing that we are working on going deep. Will it transition to game day play calls? We will find out.

I hope our offensive line was having a bad day in the 1 on 1 pass pro drill.

Goodman has good hands. If anything he'll be a very good possession receiver for us.

I'll also echo what someone said earlier about it seeming like every quarterback, but Tommy, had some really nice zip on their passes.

I'm still in love with Golson's arm.
We all know we're going to have a relatively rough year with some of the meat of our schedule, I think we should throw Golson into the fire with some packages for Hendrix...no need for Tommy anymore even though I like him as a student athlete.
