It's their religion, and for anyone bashing on Mormonism, I could give you ample comparisons from any other religion on the face of the Earth. Most notably, I could sit here and pick points about Catholicism and Notre Dame's honor code, but many of our fans would get their panties in a bunch for me doing that to our team. Nothing makes sense to everyone, but you should at least respect what they believe and admire them for upholding those beliefs, whether you buy into it or not. While I sympathize with the player and understand it isn't a big deal socially, for the school it is, and he agreed to this when he enrolled. It's unfortunate for this kid, but it's well within BYU's code to take this course of action.

As devastating as the decision is for the player/student/team, the university has its rules, regardless of one's secular "take" or another's moral stance. In that regard I stand at Irish666's side. I also stand with those who question the value of that rule.

Commentary, pro or con is fine. "Slings and arrows" are quite another thing. Pre marital sex is a NO-NO in both the Mormon and Catholic Churches. BYU is Mormon and ND Catholic. One has chosen to make it an offense that warrants immediate and dire consequences and the other has not.

I feel, personally, that both churches are a bit "off" in their views, but that's another "mountain out of a molehill" thing.

Without going into additional, excruciating and boring commentary, my advice is to simply "settle down."
