Just re-watched Neal's highlight film, I think he can play in the slot or wide. I also believe Grahambo is right about Neal taking over for John Goodman in the punt return game. Kid might score his first career touchdown in Ireland! I just got really excited for a minute. I really hope the Irish come through and land him.

Scout has him visiting Arizona this weekend. Is that correct?

He was supposed to visit but there are a couple things that might change that. One, his cousin passing away and the second is some award he is a finalist for that has a banquet this weekend. Family isn't sure if they were going to attend that or not, and this was before the news of his cousin.

I think I read that if they were still to visit they would have to drive in Saturday. A shortened visit is a plus for us no?

Seems like a UNC/ND battle. Neal Jr. liked his UNC visit a lot and has his grandmother in NC but Neal Sr. seems all about ND as he feels it's the best exposure for Jr. (Academics aside because he loves that too.)

Neal Sr. is the captain of this ship which is why people are placing him at ND after OSU was dropped.

If was visiting Miami or OSU across the country perhaps, but he lives 2 hours by car from UAZ. Don't you think he's already familiar with the campus? He also has a couple of teammates that signed with UAZ.

I don't believe a shortened visit or no visit considering his family's situation has any bearing at all.

Am I mistaken or is UNC possibly going to get the boom lowered on their program for some recent "improprieties"?

Just because it is close doesn't mean he has been there. I've lived in Indiana my whole life and have never been to Purdue or Ball State's campuses even though quite a few kids I was friends with ended up going to school there. I also recall that Arizona wasn't even in the running until they hired Rich Rod and his HS coach. So I don't know how familiar he is with the campus which is why I am asking?

Arkansas scares me in a sneaky kind of way.

I think the fact that he's undecided whether he wants to visit a school that's only 1.5 hours away indicates that, at least at the moment, his interest in AZ is not very high. Of course, that could change, but he said back in December that he wanted to go out of state for school, so I think that statement, combined with his ambivalence over visiting AZ, shows that AZ is not the favorite.

Because they air it out and are in the SEC? Hopefully Luke being turned off by UM and OSU means no Arkansas.

Do explain.

I'm curious too ... is the point that Luke seems to prefer the schools that are better academically? What's the connection between OSU and Arkansas?

In any case, I like our chances with Davonte but I'm a little worried about Arkansas too. They are on the cusp of becoming a powerhouse. Only two losses this season and they were to the two best teams in the country (arguably). I can imagine their coaches pitching to Davonte that he can help them get over the hump and start beating the LSUs and Alabamas, and in the SEC West he'll get a chance to play them every year. I can see why that's enticing, but hopefully he's the type of kid that would rather be a part of ND.

ESPN has him as 5 star and the #1 Athlete. On the first page though it says 4 star #2 athlete.

It seems like Arkansas' been "on the cusp" for at least a decade. They just never quite get over the hump.
Regardless, it does seem like we're in good position here, with OU and OSU apparently out. But who knows, really. Personally I tend to get wary when it's the parents pushing Notre Dame, because, in the end, it's the kid's decision, and the parents usually respect that. See Poole, Brian (and many more). But Neal seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders. Hopefully he sees it the same way his dad does.

I don't believe anyone is out until he signs his LOI. Not that I'm calling anyone a liar, but if you've followed recruiting for more than a week you know stranger things have happened. That being said though, I do think he signs with ND. All gut, no info.

Sorry wasn't on to answer the questions. Luke said that OSU want a good fit. Add that in with the rumors that he tried to force a commit and I'm thinking Luke doesn't like the SEC "attitude". All speculation. Just being hopeful.

What are you reading? Who ever said UAZ WAS the favorite? I was discussing his proximity to UAZ. Many recruits today don't take officials to Homestate U as they can see it on their dime and use the official visits to the distant trips. You're reaching to things that aren't in the post.

And his "ambivalence" as you call it, had to do with an awards dinner that wasn't in his schedule and a family tragedy. That's called a scheduling conflict not ambivalence.

I don't think a recruit has ever joined the group, only committed players at the time ( including Perkins Greenberry and darby) and current players have joined
