Totally agree. Coach Fligg is a suspect. My guess is that he is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the college football recruiting process, although I admit I've never even heard of the guy until yesterday. It is just hard to believe that anyone would choose to play football at GT over ND, especially since he obviously understands what ND is about. Its not like GT is Texas or Alabama (which would also be poor decision, IMO, but would at least be explainable).

I have a feeling that this is more about distance from home than a hs coach with an agenda.. who knows though.... hopefully the thing about his mom is legit.

There is no reason to assume that anyone got paid here (I throw the "bag man" stuff around sarcastically) but there is a LOT of reason to assume the reason Stephon flipped is because of people in his ear just like what happened with Aaron. The situations are obviously different and I don't know more than the average bear, but the parallels are there.

You have a local kid with strong influence from his coach and locals (teammates included) telling him to go to the local school where he will be more "comfortable." The fact that he called the ND coaches with the coach the day before the ND coaches came to visit speaks volumes to the pressure he was under to pull the trigger before he could be talked out of it. When they sat down and talked about "positive and negatives" I would guess it was much more to the effect of "you can get everything at GT that you can get at ND plus it is closer to home and you don't want to leave your friends, do you?" than it was "well, ND is stronger school, better football program, graduates more players at a drastically better rate, has a better coaching staff and a better surrounding cast for you but Georgia Tech offers less competition and is closer to home."

I don't think we get him back because there isn't much time left in the recruiting cycle.... but we shall see.

Told y'all this isnt over....

"Tuitt's high school coach really wants Tuitt at GT and has been in his ear about GT the whole time. But Tuitt's mom is more like Alice Lynch and wants her son to go to ND. Diaco is on his way to Atlanta to have a talk with him at his house set up by the mom."*

*per Scout

Thanks for the tidbit, I had not heard this. Hope the mom and our Staff can really bend Stephon's ear one more time. It's no secret he is a little torn and that he loves ND. I think with some motherly guidance and the presence of the ND staff, we might still have a chance. And we all know it ain't over till NSD.

They should be sending Diaco, Martin (who he is supposedly closest with), Elston and Ishaq & Lynch!

Unless Tuitt would prefer a less overwhelming, less pressure 1 on 1 type of deal.

Diaco and Coffee = Tuitt at ND. Coffee is for closers, steak knives for GT.

This.

I also agree with the timing of the announcement (day before the ND coaches could come and do their talk) seems "pushed" by GT favoritism...by someone. And then for the coach to tell national media that he will only talk to GT coaches from now on...hmmm.

Those who are new to the party, there is nothing new about this situation. Every big time player ND recruits is going to have 10x the local people in their ear about staying with the In-State schools. There was a reason he chose ND to begin with. Let us hope he reconsiders those reasons again.

not sure even Diaco can pull this one off....but there is a chance.........I think that Stephon's friend may be more of a reason than just what it seems on the surface. But who knows.

Either way good luck to him

I understand why Tuitt switched to GT, but I still want Tuitt and I think we have a real good chance here. Bring him back home Coach Diaco.

au contraire... it is top notch in engineering and pretty crappy in everything else. They don't even have a business school (just a management school) and unless you are going to be an engineer it is really not a great school. I say this as someone who is an engineer and checked out GT extensively.

i am an Engineer too. They are also great in applied science and in the old days they had a good football program that used to have a fears rivalry with Alabama.

ok... applied science or physics or whatever is as darn close to engineering as you can get without being engineering... I guess... hell, I've always kinda been taught engineering ~= applied sciences. My point was outside of that umbrella their programs really aren't very good. It's just an undeniable fact.

You know not every person is a die hard Notre Dame fan. Sometimes the decision is not logical to you because its not your decision.

Exactly. In the end, Tuitt is going to do what Tuitt wants to do. Who knows why he choose GT? Is is money? Is it close to home? Is it playing time? Regardless, when it comes down to it (no pun intended) he makes the final choice. And I gotta respect the kid for that.

Now, when it comes to those "little birds" in his ear, I don't respect that at all. They do this for they're own personal reasons. I had people like that in my ear during my recruitment. They don't care about the kid, just how it can further themselves.

Good for him. I'm moving on. Huggins is who we need to get. It would be great to add a playmaker on O. Like the guys we have, but I think Huggy would be the best athlete in our backfield, Day 1.

so diaco flew down and got turned away at the door? OUCH!

Whoa! Talk about mud in your eye. I don't like that. Give Diaco a chance. And if Tuitt really wants to go to GT, what do you have to worry about????

Sounds like there is some other people with interests in this decision....
