-12 degrees with no snow. More than likely to be staring at patchy ground over the weekend while the mid-south gets a snow bomb.
Doesn’t get much more depressing than that.
2-3 inches tonight that may stick around I guess…
I’ll admit, I’ve never been in sub degree weather,… coldest I’ve ever been in my life was the Sun Bowl against Miami, I don’t even think it was in the teens there,… but yeah.

The south is gonna be absolutely bonkers this weekend. People are seriously freaking out about the wintry mix coming our direction. I’m in Greenville, SC and the run on bread and milk has already started.
Obligatory:

Its cold man.

Snow makes it all a little better w/ the dull days we get. If it’s going to be cold outside I’d rather have snow all year round.

8 degrees and we have had 10 inches of snow the last few days and on top of that a massive 100 + car pile up on the highway I drive every day. Good times
Good ol' GR made the national news this week due to that pile up. My wife, son and I had just gotten off the freeway on the east side of the state when a snow squall came up out of nowhere and we could barely see 100ft in front of us. I said to her "thank God we're off the highway."

About an hour later I see the GR news on my phone and saw it twice on the news this week. Crazy stuff.

I tell my colleagues from the south all the time: All you need is a quality chili recipe, make a double batch if needed.

Natural fireplace goes a longggg way in the winter months. If you're lucky enough to have one, get some firewood, and hunker down.

Having grown up in the Chicagoland/NW IN region but transplanted to the south (lived here in ‘Bama for most of my life now), it is pretty interesting to watch the panic forming here when likely snow/ice is predicted. The run on milk/bread can be crazy with shelves literally empties for might be 1 or 2 days at home. I love to drive in the snow and one of my vehicles is a 4WD lifted truck with some performance enhancements (like I said, I live in ‘Bama…..). Getting out when the snow has covered the roads is wild to watch how others have no clue on how to navigate in the white stuff and shouldn’t be out at all. The roads here are also hilly and curvy, much different than what I learned driving on so keeping your head on a swivel is a must. There is zero snow removal equipment so you have to wait for it to melt off which usually doesn’t take too long. I will not be going to the grocery store Friday, Saturday or Sunday……..

Right now, it looks like I'm just a bit too far north to get the brunt of this next winter storm coming through.

I’m only 38 with two smaller kids at home, these winters are slowly killing me. Long time to go before retirement but I’m definitely going to be a snow bird in the winter years after I hit my pension date
snow = skiing/sledding/pond hockey for us here in Michigan, my attitude towards winter has changed a good bit now that kids are getting older and they can put on their own snow gear and head outside without us having to get involved. The frigid temps sometimes are annoying but im lucky i can wfh when i want so im rarely stuck out in it

I heard it made national news. Thankfully I missed it by an hour.

I’m trying to think of the last time I saw legit snow,… like sticks to the ground and is on the ground for more than a couple hours kind of snow,… it’s been YEARS

Looking forward to seeing large parts of the US get dumped on. Will be a fun story for them to tell years from now and a lot of kids/parents will get to make snowmen and such.

We've had some very mild winters these last several years (NW Suburbs of Chicago) but I feel like since the weekend after Thanksgiving we're seeing how the other half lives. More snow than we've been used to and now we're in the polar vortex. There doesn't appear to be much relief in sight in the week ahead.

Spring can't get here fast enough.

I don't even mind the cold up here in CT, it's the damn wind that kills you. Northern version of "It's not the heat, it's the humidity"

Must be nice. We have had 5 straight days of winter storm warnings/winter weather advisories and have a good 16-17 inches of snow the last several days. Plenty here if ya want it.
