I'm honestly not worried we have one of the deepest OL in the nation and I trust the coaches to figure out something. You can throw Black, Lambert, and a handful of other 2nd string guys and we won't miss a beat. A&M won't have near as good of a DL as they did this past year and that was playing at their place. We also have more of a throwing QB so teams are not going to be able to stack the box on us like they tried to last year.

Remember your stance on this. That it doesn't matter who is on the line since we've done this before. Losing one of your best players is a loss. They are not interchangeable pieces and Jagusah was going to open running lanes for the RBs & that changes games. Having done something with unfavorable conditions doesn't mean you want to do it again. You want to change the conditions so the likelihood of success continues to increase.

The staff have worked tirelessly to improve the program, roster, etc. I hate that it's being jeopardized by a 'likely foolish' decision. I don't think these athletes need passes to 'live their lives'. They are autonomous and can burn their lives down if they desire. They are also getting very large amounts of money and will be held to a higher standard. To whom much is given, much will be expected. Pressure is a privilege. etc. etc. Countless words have been written to describe that elevated positions carry elevated expectations.

I hope Absher or whoever earns the spot is able to step in and play great. I'm assuming there's a reason we heard high praise about Jagusah by the analysts who reviewed ND's OL.

Agree. Jagusah is a stud, but his availability has been a problem and continues to be. I expect to continue to win all our games without him with the depth that we have. Knapp, Absher, Black, etc. Younger guys just get more snaps before Jagusah returns, likely hungrier and more motivated that ever. Also, Will Black should be an absolute stud. He's 6'7" and considered a great athlete for the position with the coveted and, also fairly rare, excellent foot quickness trait. We'll be fine.

The kid is snakebitten. Not sure if the details have come out yet, but he was probably doing something stupid. Hopefully he can recover quickly and still get back on the field this season. Last year proved that depth will be needed if we're to make an extended run.

Let's get through the first two games, then start rotating every physically ready lineman to get them up to speed.

Probably an unnecessary risk for him, but they're college kids. If he was doing the UGA Dawg 120 MPH in a regular vehicle I'd probably be a lot more concerned as a fan that he wasn't doing the right things.

It's unlucky. Is it the end of the world and somehow going to throw the entire 2025 season off course? No and no.

These injuries are EXACTLY the selling point that so many of us love to shout from the rooftops when it comes to 40 year decisions and all that. If injuries are going to derail his football career, he's going to get the degree and be set right?

I know what you're saying and I want to believe.

Think about other impactful players we could lose after two starts and how it would've impacted games: Q. Nelson, Hamilton, Alt, etc. I don't mean to cherry pick the very best from the past decade but....Jagusah was getting a lot of praise from people in and out of the program.

After what they overcame last year with injuries, I'll refrain from calling anything insurmountable. At least the timing was right and not a week before the season opener. Plenty of time to evaluate all options and roll our best 5 out in Miami.

I hope Jagusah comes back fully recovered/rested and ready to destroy people as we march toward a championship run.

Held to a higher standard is laughable. With any prestige/notoriety/money/fame, you do whatever the F you want. Normal folks are held to a standard. There is no "higher" IMO.

I'm going to live with a fantasy scenario which makes me feel better, since no one seems to really know enough here about really anything.

1. I am going to believe that Charles was at a teammate's place where things like riding in UTVs was considered to be safe and ordinary especially by big strong males. He might not even have been driving the vehicle. Something went wrong which was not his fault. Being a superman who could solve almost any situation by his own muscle, he put out his arm/hand instinctively to ward off the danger --- this was "thoughtless" but a natural instinct. Even superman could not avoid the resultant force and a bone snapped. On reflection, he could have been horse riding and his horse spooked. Sh!t happens.

2. Back at South Bend, the OLine coach is considering his options. "Let's see. I have Billy at LG, and Ashton at Center, and Amil at RT. Sully is murdering people on running plays and is OK vs. pass rush. And Knapp is back as a starting LT. That's four starters plus Abshur. I've also got about five more people who all my opponents want on their teams. Why are people telling me I've got a problem? OK, Charles would have been an All-American, but he even might still be before the season is over. By Play-offs he might be in there knocking the wadding out of DTs and MLBs. ... I think a lot of OT coaches wish they were in my situation. Now to get Sully up to speed on the Pass-Pro game."

And fwiw the "optimistic" timeline I heard is "mid-October" for return to play. But there are a lot of unknowns with healing + strength gain.

It still might've been a compound fracture, I'm not a doctor I don't know how things work, but yeah I think people are "hopeful" about a return around the midpoint of the season. We're basically talking about 2 months of healing + an unknown amount of PT / building strength for return to play.

I fell through a roof and landed 15ft below on a concrete slab and ONLY got a cheauffur’s fracture of my largest arm bone. They had me doing PT within two weeks of surgery.

My FIL had a hip replacement and they had him doing PT within a week. Hopefully they get him going ASAP.

Yeah, egg on my face. I'm not going to be critical of players attending an event with law enforcement/military and riding around in a 'controlled setting'. It was simply bad luck/bad instincts and I hope he gets back quickly.

It was an old warehouse with meal roof deck and it had those plexiglass sklylights in the metal decking but some genius painted the roof and also painted the skylights so it was not really visible to me walking around on the deck. I stepped right through one of those skylights. I also had a tool bag slung over my shoulder that had every sharp tool you can have in it and somehow, I not only landed parallel to the slab but also on top of the tool bag and didnt get a scratch. Had a terrible case of lactic acidosis (from impacting the slab) all over my body that even my eyeballs hurt but walked away with the fractured wrist, some scratches on my knees and mild PTSD of working on roofs. I also landed about 3 feet away from a 6 ft tall cmu knee wall that luckily wasnt located under the skylight.

Honestly the worst part about it was having to deal with my work's accident investigation process and their Root Cause analysis. I spent months going over every tiny detail of the decisions, location, hazards I didnt see or pay attention to,...that was by far more traumatic than the event itself.

There was an ISD update the other day saying that many already have clauses that could penalize such activities.

All it takes is a few incidents to draw media attention and I would expect language like that to eventually become standard.

I'd expect it to have make its way through state legislation at some point (for good or bad)

Glad you came out of it alright, life is too short. I used to climb all over my parent's roof in my teens and early 20s thinking it was cool. In my late 30s our family moved back in to my parent's place for 5 months while our new house was being built. I decided to get up on the roof and put their Christmas lights up again for the first time since I moved out. They went up alright, but trying to take them down on a slick roof in January I had a short slip that nearly sent me tumbling. I immediately thought "This is stupid, I could break my neck over some stupid lights." We had a family friend pass away after a fall while cleaning his gutters. This was back in 2000, he had young kids and a wife. I've got too many responsibilities and people depending on me, I'm paying someone to get up there if anything needs done again. Not worth it as someone who doesn't do that shit for a living.

More than anything I'd like to get out of one offseason without multiple projected starters being injured. I'm sure most programs go through that, but sometimes it feels like we're more snakebitten than others.
