Anyone think he can follow in the shoes of Manti and Jaylon and the next Butkus Award winner at ND (Sneed could be).

This kid seems to have a level head on his shoulders and with the local articles I've read he puts the team first before himself and has a great work ethic.

Most underrated under appreciated player in the class right?
He is a legit star
Biggest question for him, imo, is how much faster/quicker/explosive can he get. He is physically more developed than most guys, and seems bought into the program and Freeman so his floor is high. What's his ceiling, though? How much faster and more explosive can he be? That'll dictate his ceiling imo.

Hard to tell at this point. I think his rating is fair, maybe even a tad bit high. Local kid who seems to have his head screwed on straight so I hope he kills it.

Drayk is a polarizing rating as far the services go. At least to me.

If I’m a Notre Dame football fan, all I really care about is the production of the player, while at ND. So, a guy like Tevon Coney was criminally underrated because he was a very effective/productive MLB. Which is what I think Drayk can be at ND. That deserves high marks for its impact.

However, if I’m forced to look at it through the lens of NFL pedigree it’s a much different story.

I think Drayk is a coaches/fans dream while being overrated as a Top 100 prospect for the NFL.

100%. The kid plays two different sports where he is/was the captain on the field. linebacker (football) and shortstop (baseball) Playing these positions you need to be talented, intuitive, fluid, and aware of your teammate's assignments. Bowen will be a gamer.

The "ideal" Offensive/defensive lineman should/would participate in football and wrestle in high school ... (as mentioned many times on this site) totally agree

Give me a linebacker playing a secondary sport in high school where they're overseeing their teammates. Baseball... maybe lacrosse or soccer

The thing where we're always expected to judge/view college football players (or recruits) through the lens of their prospects in the NFL is pretty tiresome. They are different versions of the sport, that often reward different skills, and if I gave a shit about the NFL I'd be an NFL fan, yet here I am on a college football message board.

While I agree to an extent. The goal is to win a national championship and it's well proven the best chance at that is stockpiling NFL talent.

If he hits, he’s injury free Drue Tranquill.

Agreed. There's a place on the college field for a guy drayk. Combine him with Sneed and another LBer with wheels, coach them up and they should wreck some offenses.

Drue is a better athlete.

Maybe but he’s no slouch as he was laser timed 6.55 in the 60 yard dash at 220lbs.

Define NFL talent. Jack Sanborn couldn't get ND to offer him and he goes to Wiscy, can't get drafted and lead the Bears in tackles while a healthy rookie. The Bears current LB's?... I never heard of any of them in college and none of them were P5's.

I know a Bears joke is due here but... 80%(?) of the players in the NFL would have made all of us roll our eyes if ND offered them in HS.

NFL talent is certainly difficult to define and even identified by the professionals at a collegiate level let alone at HS.

But we can just go with drafted players for exercise purposes I suppose. Without knowing the numbers I'm willing to bet that Bama Georgia osu are leaders.

I am also not declaring Bowen as having a lack thereof, for the record.

I was only responding to the reason why HS recruits are typically looked at through an NFL talent lens.

This. People shouldn't confuse pro prospects with college ones.

ND has to make decisions based on a kid at age 15-16-17. Pro teams get to wait an extra 3-4 years of maturity AND get the luxury of seeing them at a significantly higher level than any level of high school football.
