That 21 class is the best WR class for ND all time from a rankings perspective so I have a hard time with "Almost anything is better than Del's recent classes".

The last one was certainly a collapse of epic proportions and the others all had their issues but not all fall on Del in my book.

I certainly am hoping for Chansi to pick it up.
Nope. 2007 and 2008 have to be better. 15 & 16 production was pretty good but rankings were average. We just haven't been pulling in great classes since Weis left. We have found a low-ranked stud here and there but we need to be closer to a top 5 program at the position. Under Kelly, WR was recruited very poorly.

Alexander was nearly 50% of that.

We have finished as a top 10 program for the last 4-5 years. Shouldn't we be recruiting near that line at every position? Stucki looks like he's on track to upgrade the position.

And if you don't think 4 WRs on the roster from the past 4 classes combined is poor recruiting/evaluation, then I don't know what to tell you. Just because he grabbed a few good players on his way out doesn't absolve him for the shitshow that is our current roster #s at the position.

The good news is that Styles is an absolute stud and should get 10+ targets/game.

maybe we should bring Pudding pants back, 2007 was really good but only 2. I would say anything over 10 years ago doesnt classify as "recent" per your OP.

Maybe i said somewhere in my post that he should be absolved  He needed to go no doubt.

But we had a few WR's move over to D. We had one of our all time highest rated WR recruits turn out to be a complete bust. Is that on the eval - likely, but he wasnt the only one that failed that eval.

Hypothetical (and one i dont know the right answer too) but lets say we hold on to CJ Williams and Amorion. That would have been back to back best classes of Kelly's era ("recent") for the position. Would we still have wanted Del to leave? Im not sure. you could certainly make arguments that he got the most out of a few guys that no one expected contributions from, but then theres also the chicken/egg. were we needing that from them becuase of poor recruiting/evals in those classes.

Ultimately when we look at our starting WRs next year - 2 of them are going to be from that 2021 class that were saying "anything is better than" and I'll stand by thats not the case.

Fair enough, we're playing with loose definitions. I guess I was considering the totality of his recruiting against the field but I did say "recent classes". I should've said the totality of his classes on our current roster. It feels like he greatly underperformed. Sure, if he kept CJ and AW, then maybe we're talking about him possibly being given one more year to prove it wasn't a fluke. But he knew he needed 4 guys in the 22 class and at one point had 3 and ended up with 1.

I don't care about alternative realities, that's how it ended. And given how successful our program has been, I believe Del was operating near the 25th percentile and not the 75th. I think Stucki will be a massive improvement over that.

247 clearing the top of the board…

It’s all over besides the announcement.

I think this is the first time a ND target scheduled a commitment announcement and 10 different people didn't tweet and retweet it. Especially Tom Loy given it was 247. They must be all watching the Grammys.

Verbals are nice. Signings are better. And even those aren't ironclad anymore.

Opposite of how it usually goes, but a couple top WR commits would be a nice way to maybe reassure Dante of ND.

Loy responded that the announcement date has been the plan but waiting for Braylon to announce it. It’s also still up there but Loy hasn’t publicly advertised it so it’d be inclined to say it’s correct as far as they know but waiting to hear it from the horses mouth for it to go widespread

So Braylon got bumped by the Masters lmao.

Likely going to be announcing April 19th or the 20th per Loy

Loy had an interesting nugget in his commitment date thread on Braylon. At a recent UC Camp he measured in at 6'2, 182. Ran an electronic 4.47 40 and had a 39'' vertical.

I did not realize he was that athletic. Them some crazy good numbers, lol.

Anything from Loy about Texas being a player here? Enough to get a CB?

Maybe I'm unsure what you're asking but Braylon James, who's thread we are in, to ND seems like a lock on April 19th or 20th. He doesn't have any CB's to Texas, all 4 to ND. Are you think thinking of Greathouse that looks to be leaning Texas and recently received a CB to Texas from Mike Roach. Roach also recently CB'd James to ND.

I'm sorry guys I'm an idiot. I mis-read Dale's post as a CB for Texas. 100% my bad. Apologies

That's incredible for a 17 YO who can still strength train and develop power/speed He can become an absolute monster in a college S&C program. This is a huge addition the class, I think i undervalued him.

Agreed. On tape he looked like a good athlete who was a very polished WR. These numbers take that to elite athleticism and a very polished WR. Top 50 type of prospect.
