Balis technically axed himself, although Freeman kind of pushed him out the door a bit because he wanted to get more sciencey with S&C and Balis didn't think he had the tools/experience to properly do it.

Part of the recruiting pitch is Notre Dame's history. The Gug and the JACC are full of Heisman trophies and pictures of prior All Americans. He can't be totally naive to that history as a football player at Notre Dame even as an 18 year-old.

With that said, I think we can excuse the immaturity of an 18 year-old who would say something like that during an interview. I meant what I said mostly in jest.
