Apologize for scary bump.

ISD is reporting he is having a tremendous off season and will be more than ready for full contact for camp. They believe he is our infamous elite pass rusher.

Nothing could be sweeter than if that were true.

Praise the lawd. You had to expect big things out of that guy. His quads & hammys are gigantic.

I think a healthy Jarron Jones will do wonders for our defense next year. He is a force in the middle and causes tip balls and hard to throw over by QB's, how many first year QB's will ND face next year?

OK to bump with news like this. This kid is a freak athlete...if he can take the pounding he will be exceptional.

Does anyone have any video showing this kids FREAK athleticism?? Not doubting that he is at all, im just superrr pumped to see him get after it, and was wondering if anyone has a favorite video or clip that shows what a stud he is, to get me even more excited.

We need more than one pass rusher to win a championship. It was sad what Ohio State did to us with their second string D-line in the bowl game made us look like a bunch of girls.

No, they didn't. We handled their d-line in an okay fashion.

Kizer made some rookie mistakes playing against a talented secondary, and was put under pressure at times, but their backups didn't do anything out of the ordinary.

Please quit perpetuating this thought-process, which has been voiced several times.

Also wasnt it just their DE that was kicked out of the game? If so, hardly the whole D line to make second string.

I believe their starting DT was out for the game as well.

Bosa was kicked out in the 1st quarter, and Washington who is the starting DT, and Schutt was also out who was Washington's backup.

Ohio State Buckeyes not worried about missing two defensive tackles - College Football Nation Blog- ESPN

I think their backups did alright against us.

I wasn't saying that their backups didn't play.

I was saying that their backups didn't "make us look like a bunch of girls."

Their backups didn't do anything special against ND's OL. It's our rushing defense that looked like a bunch of girls.

We had 121 total rushing yards and averaged 3.8 a carry. Only 80 rushing yards from our RBs. And 4 sacks. I think it's clear their DL out manned our OL. Not from numbers alone, but just watching the game.

To steer the convo back to Daelin, if he has a big impact early on it could change the game with recruiting DEs. We've had literally no one at DE since BVG arrived that we can point to and say, "We're going to use you like we use him." That could change if Daelin gets 3-4 sacks in our first few games. All the sudden instead of selling kids on early PT because we've got no pass rushers, we can say, "Look you can play early here AND we can turn you into a legit pass rusher." That's what we need if we're going to make a serious run at Echols, Paschal, Kaindoh and others down the stretch.

Again. Their backups played well. But they didn't make our OL "look like a bunch of girls."

It's also worth noting that if our defense were healthy/respectable, our offensive numbers probably would have been better, especially in terms of rushing. Playing down two/three scores for most of a game doesn't lead to great balance.

A tad over-dramatic to act like our OL got abused.

Exactly. We were in the hole 14 points in the first quarter because we came out flat. I don't think it was us getting manhandled as much as coming out not ready.

We didn't run the ball well because we were down so much we had to go off script and try to chuck it all over the field. That's also why there were so many sacks... holding the ball to try to make a big passing play. It's really that simple.

This is great news. We all know if this kid was healthy he would have been a 5 star! This kid is going to see a lot of action this year!

The news of this dude's development is sweet sweet harmony in my ears. In my mind, the most important thing we need to improve is our pass rush and it would be nice to ad a new elite LB with the departure of Jaylon.

I saw that tweet earlier today and some crazy guy who I see on ND twitter feeds was giving the John Blas dude a hard time about calling him Jaylon 2.0 and I'm thinking... he ain't far off.

I wonder if Daelin will ever be big enough to play DE?

How long until fall camps starts? I'm most interested in the stats of our freshman class. I thought he was going to be our rush end but he looks super lean, so likely less than 245lbs.

So where will he play? Very excited to see which young men will vie for playing time out of the gate. This last class was one of the more complete classes Kelly has signed at ND.

By all accounts, Daelin is definitely in the mix for WDE. I think the plan is to integrate him slowly and not give him too many snaps, but give him the same sort of role that Kolin Hill had back in '14. Jay Hayes is still in the mix too, along with Trumbetti, so Daelin will come in on the passing downs it looks like.

I also loved the '16 class. The staff was also really close in getting a few other guys that would've just made it outstanding.

I believe Daelin Hayes will be on the field to rush the QB whether it's at LB or DE. Gonna line up at both with one goal in mind. Khalil Mack type player

I think they leave for Culver on August 5th.

Good. Protect that shoulder with fewer reps on run downs.
