They basically do the same thing and for the price I might have made the same decision. But the Fire Stick skews heavily in favor of Amazon content. The Roku is a bit more user-friendly when using various platforms.

This...Amazon drives you more to Amazon content, but I am told more apps are available for my Roku by stick owners

Dude...this is pretty much what I said above. Why should you get credit for the response?

***UPDATE***

I did not pull the trigger on the vacuum. Found out it was for hardwood floors only. While my house is all hardwood, there are rugs I need to vacuum.

Why ask Wizards ... when it was NDty9 that issued a thank you to a poster who responded to his specific question?

Because I wasn't really serious and I was essentially agreeing with Wizards' assessment.

I picked up an Echo because my wife wants a speaker on our first floor and I picked up a 29" 4k monitor to extend my mac for $250. That is a hell of a deal considering I paid $850+ for my 34" 4k monitor.

I also grabbed a fire stick and just missed out on the range extender. I didn't plan on spending any money today but I'm glad you all notified me of the deals!

For all the buildup of prime day being a black Friday in July, I thought it was pretty underwhelming overall especially in regards to electronics/video games. The black Friday deals on those things are 1000x better than prime day.

Disagree. I ended up getting about $2000 of electronics for $1100... and these were A+ products that met all of the needs I was looking for, not "take what you can get" Black Friday deals.

What'd you get other than that laptop? I saw good deals, but none good enough to make me pull the trigger in an already expensive month for me.

Compared to last year's Prime Day, this year was pretty on point.

XBOX One Bundle, Kindle, Mouse, iPhone case w/ built in battery, Headphones, Fire Stick, WiFi Range Extender... basically, I just opened my wallet and said "here, take my money."

To be fair, I had a significant amount Amazon gift card $$ from wedding gifts that I needed to burn.

I didn't buy anything as I don't have any immediate needs (next year I'll probably need to replace all of the electronics), but the deals seemed great this year, and it seemed like they were much better prepared in terms of stocking the hot-ticket stuff for all day, or at least giving everybody a fair shake to get what they wanted.

The only deals that aren't worth it are individual video games, IMO.

The Show for $20 as a Grey mentioned was outstanding, and I'm bummed I missed out on that one, but the deals I saw early in the day, when I was looking for a few older games, were not worth it I don't think.

Anyone get their Echo yet? Thoughts? And specific 'skills' you use?

We received ours last Friday but we just brought our new daughter home Saturday midday. I haven't had time to set it up with all of my accounts but we've already found it very useful. Easy to put on music, request info on news/weather (my wife has thrown a few cooking questions to Alexa).

I foresee this device being one of those "if only I'd bought it sooner". I still need to link up my spotify account and download the app so we can create to-do/to-buy lists to share between us. I'll try to remember to post back once I've had time to set it up thoroughly.
