There are few individuals EVER that have successfully been an impact true WR at that size. Megatron is about only guy I can think of. Of Chase ends up the next CJ amazing, but seems doubtful. Hybrid TE or moves to LB IMO.

6'5" 215?

There are plenty of impact WR's throughout college that fit that physical profile.

If he gets bigger, then it's a different discussion.

AJ Green, Brandon Marshall, Randy Moss ... all roughly the same size as Claypool at 6-4 and between 210-220

While you can add Vincent Jackson, Brian Finneran, Dorial Green - Becham and Ed McCaffrey to those above off the tp of my head the one thing that domer2 has an argument over is that Claypool weighs more than all of those guys outside of Green-Beckham at the same point in their lives. Megatron was only 205-210 his senior year. Most of these guys were 190's. Claypool has a different frame.

He's a physical talent. If he's a player, he'll find the field.

I live in Vancouver (one hour drive from Abbotsford where Chase goes to high school) and I coach high school football and also played university football in Canada. This year in the high school playoffs, Abbotsford high (Claypool's team) played John Barsby (my alma mater) so I went to the game. John Barsby was back to back provincial champions and had a stout defence that hadn't allowed more than 7 points all year. Claypool went out there and scored four td's at WR and two more on kick returns. His ability to make tacklers miss, his crazy good spin move and straight arm and ESPECIALLY his jumping ability and attacking the ball at the high point were all incredible. He is the real deal. I bet he'll play this year and make an impact.

You sure those tacklers weren't just being nice, because, well, Canada, eh?

Good info. I want him to stay at WR for these reasons. I think he could be really, really dominant on the O.

I am just wondering why not try him out at safety. If he has aWR speed and hits like a LB what's wrong there?

I feel like we have SS's galore. Seems like every safety we recruit is 'likely a SS'. So unless he's a FS, I'm personally against him at SS.

I'm good with him at FS. I still want my last line of defense to be able to wrap up and tackle. This way we could keep the weight off and the speed up.

If we didn't have McKinley and weren't loaded at OL and QBs I'd keep him at WR but we really lack elite athletes on defense and he could help us a lot there.

Looks like he'll have to stay on O because how can you expect a Canadian to play defense when no one in the country can even spell it? We gotta build a wall or our grandkids will be singing God save the Queen again. Now please add italics.

Thanks for the info bro.

You're right... The French sided with us against the same crown that Canada still polishes and conspired to attack the capital and burn the White House. History is not always kind.

AND they suck all those juicy American automobile jobs out of Detroit into Ontario. What is a Michigan football player to do now a days when he runs out of eligibility? The world only needs so many probation officers, even in Detroit, Flint and Saginuts.

Build a Wall I say!

4. that more than a few?

Were all those guys that big checking into college?

no they werent.

AJ Green 6'4 184 as HS senior.
Brandon Marshall 6'4 195 as HS senior
Could not find Moss HS height weight, but finished his career around 210. Doubtful he was similar weight as Chase at age 18.

I'll stand by my previous statement as everyone mentioned above played their NFL careers at a weight lower than what Chase currently is.

Ok so some WRs that size don't work out (and obviously some do). But how many DEs come in being 1) 215 pounds and 2) never playing the position, and do a bang up job of kicking butt at DE? That list is smaller than the list of WRs that don't pan out at 6'5, 220 IMO.

I am not on the DE train either. I think its OLB or the Hybrid TE.

LB maybe. But We're loaded at TE thanks to the best 2017 TE class of commits the world has ever seen. I don't even know if that needs italics.

I'm with the group he should stay on offense.

Me too, 100% The kid is going to be a stud WR. He's not an average prospect, so I don't see why we have to compare him to normal players. Alabama gets jumbo RBs that don't fit the mold. He is a jumbo WR, like Alize.

But if we are talking about the law of averages, then I prefer him at DE then LB. 6'5" is pretty tall for an LB. Get him to 250 and have him rush the passer!

I think his upside is on offense, but we can't get all of our offensive threats on the field right now. So if he can rush the passer, I don't see the point of keeping him on offense for a couple plays a game.

This kids HS film on defense was incredible. His offensive film was, too, but we've got way more weapons on offense than we do on D.

I will take you to places in PQ and show you plenty of Canadians that aren't 'nice.' Any one of whom would like to get their hands on a blow-hard Statsie!

The rest of the comments doesn't require response. Remember the Underground Railroad? It ended in Canada. Guess what happened to the slave chasers when they tried to cross the border?
