Any player that has it in his nature to do a butt slide like he did against Stanford without an injury behind it wouldn't be playing football, let alone at the FBS level. He was hurt.

... but, I think, didn't play hardly at all until the last part of game. If so, BVG made a big error.

I was kind of wondering about some personnel choices both ways actually, now that you mention it!

Just as I gave Farley love the other day, he makes my choice look good.

Not that I don't expect Farley to be back, but I wonder if there is a difference in being approved by university, and accepted by the fb team.

I beleive there is a difference. He has to be academically eligible before he can be offered a 5th year by the staff. Him being approved does not guarantee him a spot.

I want to publicly eat crow again for being so negative about Farley. He was one of the few bright spots last year. I honestly think he could have a huge impact this season.

I hope he continues to break out and finds his way onto a Sunday roster as a 5th/6th DB.

I wish this for him too, but does it seem like he has been here forever? Not like Anthony Carter at U of M long but quite a while

Anyone remember Carlos Huerta, the kicker at Miami back in the 1980s? It seemed like he was at Miami for decades.

You mean like Devin Gardner, right?

I think Matthias has been a polarizing figure during his time here. Lots of people liked the way he stepped in during the 2012 season and helped us get to the big game, but then many quickly turned on him in 2013 after what now appears to be an poor season caused by undisclosed injuries. He was certainly versatile last year though, which is why fans shouldn't turn their back on a player so soon and write them off after one bad season, especially considering the fact we don't have all the details.

Love you and your humble honesty, bro!

I think the reason it seems like Mathias has been around forever is that Kelly only pre-dates him by a year; in other words, wasn't Mathias in Kelly's second recruiting class? And didn't he make a big splash by only having played football for a couple years?

Everybody knew about him when he came, as controversy reared its ugly head. But his early Kelly impression was cemented by the guffaw by Bob Diaco about his older sisters. And finally, how many regular members of the '12 defense do we talk about? Mathias and KeiVarae Russell? I think that is about it, oh yeah, and he was a darling in '12, a goat in '13, and in '14, a totally transformed into a playmaker who from the defense totally turned the momentum in two ball games (at least, if I am not mistaken.)

Need more trash talk and cockiness on this team. Him and Max are great to watch between plays.

always interesting to me how the kids who seem to have some many things going for them in life (outside of sport) are the ones who actually succeed in the ND football program. Then the ones like Greg Bryant and Cierre Wood who are really just in ND so they can get to the NFL are the ones who sabotage themselves with their off field behaviour

Love Farley as a person, really hope he plays well enough to be a late pick in the draft. I think he has some value for teams and I've come full circle to believing in Farley.

He's a smart player and last year had great instincts and played with heart. He'll at least make a practice squad IMO. Very Robert Blanton-esque.

Wanted to give this guy a shout out. He came in when asked, held his ground and played his assignments, and did an overall pretty nice job from the parts of the game I actually got to see.
