My opinion, almost always based upon the concept of significant gains by people who have real talent and are growing into the "Man-transition" between sophomore and junior years [AND whom the staff have already seen as good enough to play some snaps] is that we will not only be OK this season and next, but WAY better than good on the DLine, run or pass.
My main intuitions about this are based upon:
a). Romeo Okwara is now a full man in age and experience. I believe that he will generate pressure every game; four sacks last year = several more this year;
b). Trumbetti was REAL good about every third play in terms of penetration. This year it will be real good every other play at least. That's plenty good for a DE; 2016 will be a "watchlist" year for him;
c). We will get much more pressure right up the middle from our DTs. Remember JJones vs FSU. That support for Sheldon will give Sheldon some occasional one-on-ones which he will either buffoon or destroy. Our other bigs will power up and drive OLines back as well. By 2016 Tillery will be a terror show, and Hayes probably like Day Mark-2.0. Those guys plus Trumbetti will be ferocious;
d). With Luke-Island and Russell-Island both in place, BVG will be able to blitz people's brains out from all directions. Jaylon Smith and Matthais Farley will kill people. Once in a while Redfield will stunningly show up in an unsuspecting QBs face. BVG will be able to call these even in the case of fast offenses, because he will not have to alter his DLine much nor his corner play. Only the strong safety and the linebackers will need rapid adjustment --- hint, some of those guys' names are Schmitt and Sebastian and Farley --- smartest in the business at it.
As always with me: God Bless your future young Kolin, but Pass the Koolaid anyway.
