I know there was a falling out with BK and the family, but I really wish he would have stayed. Our O in theory will be wide open with Golson back next year and seemingly a stacked WR core. Really think GA could have some damage in a role similar to the one he had in 2012 (4-8 carries a game, lots of counters and quick pitches)

How is this helping ND?? Who is going to return kicks next year? Cam?

Anyway, good luck GA...

Amir has to step up next year. Even if he doesn't become an every-down back (and I still think he can ... he looked great against Michigan this year and he just needs to rediscover the intensity he showed in that game), he's more than capable of filling the GAIII role.

I wouldn't read too much into this impacting, or being impacted by, the GB situation.

Good luck GAIII. Hope this works out well for him.

I know it's been discussed a bunch but I really really wish we had a true running back in this class.

Feel like the staff tried hard to bring someone elite like Hood and Scarborough. Too bad about Hood, because that kid loved ND. Anyways, with Bryant being redshirted, Mahone with some eligibility left, Folston being awesome, and the the older guys, I think we are fine. We definitely need one in 15 though.

I don't wish any ill will toward George and hope he makes us all look bad, but this just doesn't pass the eye ball test.

His speed will get him a look. Either late round or via FA. I still maintain that if he makes a team it will be for returns only or as the fourth RB on the team. Then his dad can complain to the commish.

What was the average starting position of the team last year?

I do not see an emphasis on ST overall, anyway, under Kelly, so I am sure he will just put a freshman with speed and hopefully a little vision back there to return kicks.

Honestly, anyone would be just as good as long as they have vision and good to great speed.

GA had speed, only. I do not see us having a great deal of drop off in that regard, especially since BK does not put a premium on it, anyway.

Good luck to GAIII. I don't think he gets drafted higher than a 6th to 7th round if at all though. He's a guy you might take a chance on late because he has the speed.

Maybe he saw the writing on the wall pertaining to playing time? Probably wouldnt have improved his draft stock by coming back, but still wouldve gotten my degree if I were him.

I disagree that it wouldn't help him to return for another year. He may not be the featured back on the team, but he would receive some touches. He also would be the featured return man on kick returns which would give him the opportunity to make some noise in that department. If he were to have another good year returning kicks it could help him immensely. This is only if teams were to look at an individual being a return specialist.

I agree. Our RBs and years of eligibility remaining after the 2013 season:

McDaniel -- 2014
Carlisle -- 2014-15
Mahone -- through 2016
Folston -- through 2016
Bryant -- through 2017

We can take a difference maker if we can get one (I'm still hoping to see us try to flip Nathan Starks, both b/c I want him and because eff Jim Mora), but if we don't take a RB this year it's NBD.

Yeah I know they tried and decided not to take a body just to take one but it still worries me that we will go into 2015 with Folston, GB, Amir?, and Mahone. Two of those guys have yet to play a full season and another was underwhelming this year. I realize that I'm complaining about something 20 months in the future and that guys will improve but we are still going into next year with only 5 scholarship running backs.

I think we need at least two in 15. Grumble, grumble

He's in trouble if that's the case. Most NFL teams don't keep KO or PR specialist. They have to perform double duty, so he needs to show them that he can play RB or WR. He runs with such a high pad level that LB's will have a heyday with him.

Good luck to the kid. Sad when parents try to create\relive their legacy through their children. I remember how stoked I was when these kids committed.

I hope Josh is smart enough to stay put.

Well I don't think he's gonna do better than the 4th round. If that's what they are telling him, I'd go too, I guess.
