To Whiskey's Points:

All very relevant and complete agree with you. I would be more concerned if this was a Thursday before the game Friday and not a full week to prepare Greer or Morgan. I also think the tempo will largely be determined by what they do on first down (or how we do on first down).

If you look at the last four games (USC, Stanford, Washington, Utah) their points per game is a little lower than the season average (26.75) but their defense has been playing lights out. I would like to imagine that our D is in line with Stanford and Utah, but can't decide for sure. If it is though, I think we force them into a more physical game, which works to our advantage over a spread tempo game. That is what both of those teams were able to do.

Utah, with any offense, or with not dropping an interception late in the game, wins that game last Saturday. I also like Kelly and EG in games like this...don't know why, but I just do.

I'm with you there. Kelly and Golson have very rarely disappointed on a big stage. Not to mention that Kelly has had Graham's number recently.

I still think we'll win. I'm just much less confident in this match-up than I was a month ago.

I think this is a game where BK brings in his ability to control the clock offensively. Especially with the run game gaining speed. This will not only keep the D off the field but also allow BVG to face2face with Morgan or whomever between series.

Notre Dame is gonna wax Arizona State. The Sun Devil lines can't keep up. Also, I think the backup QB is better than Kelly even if he doesn't offer much of a run threat. I say that and watch Kelly turn in to Jim Kelly. Anyway... I am sticking to my prediction. The Irish win by 10+.

ASU is good for one inspired win over a decent team a season, and one to two head-scratching pants s-hitting loss against a decent team. UCLA already handed them said pants s-hitter, so I'm confident we will be getting their best shot. Still won't be enough though.....

ASU crumbles on the big stage more than any other program, including us.

We are 22-3 when my buddy and I dress up as Leprechaun's and go to the game. 14-1 on the road. We lost to Mich in the Big Shat House, USC with Clauson, and Oklahoma when we started out down 14 points in about minutes last year. If I don't get beat up early in the game and can stay for all four quarters...we will be fine.

Is Collinsworth expected back? I know he was in full uniform for Navy. I would love to have him back for ASU.

Even if he's available, he'll be playing through a serious injury. I wish him the best, but if he sees the field against ASU, we're in trouble.

I wouldn't say Kelly has had Graham's number. He's 2-1 against him, but 2 of those games were against Tulsa and Pitt. Two teams that ND vastly out-talented and out-manned. One game was a loss, and another a way too close win. ND got the win against a good ASU team last year, but I'd say Graham has given Kelly all he can handle.

Heavy doses of Folston/Cam/GB. Control the clock. Get a timely turnover. We win 38-34.

Gotta hand it to Hiestand, the OL has really come into form the last few weeks.

To elaborate, rushing yards per season since 2009 (Weis' last season):

2009: 1539 (3.8 avg)

2010: 1646 (4.0 avg)
2011: 2085 (4.8 avg)
2012: 2462 (4.9 avg)
2013: 1963 (4.5 avg)
2014: 2202 (4.5 avg)

2014 is the where they'll finish if pace continues. With the way Folston is rushing, I expect the average to bump up a bit. It looks like a pretty decent year for Kelly standards, which is impressive considering how bad they looked against Michigan and others early on.

So listening to Yogi Roth on the First Team this morning, he projects that ND will actually lose to both ASU and USC to finish the season. He is from the Pac-12 Network. Says that FSU is an average team, and that he really didn't learn much about ND from that game.

Thoughts?

I pray one day we're average enough to win 23 straight, have a Heisman QB, win a title and compete for second.

There is only one team in the Pac 12 that I believe could put up a fight against Florida State and that's Oregon. In a bowl or Playoff I will still take Florida State anytime.

With that being said, I could see us losing to all three of USC, ASU and Louisville to end the season. I don't think that will happen, but there is a possibility. With that being said, I wouldn't count on a Kelly lead team dropping 2 of 4 to end the season. I know it happened last year, but normally he is pretty good in November.

I went to the game last year and had the pleasure of spending most of my time with ASU folks before and after the game. To be honest, they were all very nice and weren't very bitter after the game. They were surprised to see how big and physically developed ND was as a team, and thought it was the difference in the game. They weren't optimistic about beating ND this year either.

I didn't notice the difference during the game but really wasn't paying close attention. I think their opinion had more to do with how we beat them - ND's front four played big and simply dominated their o-line, and the two biggest offensive skill guys, Koyack and Niklas, torched them for TDs.

Anyone at the game last year have the same experience or did anyone notice a significant gap in physical size between the two teams?

I thought the difference in the game last year was our defensive line was healthy and came to play, and ASU's offensive game plan tried to attack Jaylon and it simply didn't work.

I have quite the conundrum this weekend as well. I have tickets to the LSU/Bama game and cannot decide if I want to stay home and watch the entire ND game and skip the LSU game, or if I should watch up until halftime and then head over to LSU campus and follow on the phone. I hate these sorts of decisions.

Is it possible to DVR the ND game and watch it later? Or do they give updates on the other games in the stadium?

I hate DVRing the ND game because I am generally a nervous wreck during the time that the game is going on, but LSU/Bama should be good. That ticket would be tough for me to turn down.

One of the few reasons I'd miss a live ND game is for a Bama vs. LSU at night. I won't question your fanhood if you go to death valley.

DVR the ND game and go to the LSU/Bama. I've always wanted to go to a night game at Death Valley.

Problem with DVRing the ND game is that they actually have video boards at LSU that give score updates and highlights. I would know what happened as it happened...haha.

That and this would be the 5th LSU/Bama game that I have attended in the last 10 years. Its not as big of a deal for me...not like when they were both unbeaten a few years ago. Its a special game, no doubt, but it would not be my first one.
