Luatua is in the process of scheduling other officials with OSU on the books already. He could definitely cancel his other official visits but I don't see Luatua committing until he at least visits ND. I'll go with Mckenzie, Holley, Yeargin in order of confidence.

I have no confidence in Holley, so that is good to hear.

To be fair, we have not exaclty struck out recruiting our targets at DL lately, so I should have some faith.

Matt Dickerson

I like the call but I just read yesterday, not sure where at, that he is a major UCLA lean at this time. However, the offer made a major impact and I could see us giving him a lot of attention since he'll be here by himself. Reps for the call!

Thanks, Lucky. I was just trying to be different. I have no clue who will be next.

I did look into Dickerson some more after posting that and think he would be a great addition to this class. ND seems like the perfect school for him and it doesn't sound like he will wait long to make a decision. Hopefully he sees something different at ND and pops shortly afterwards.

I'm guessing Isaiah Mckenzie will be next.

If this is the case, we have Isaiah, Holmes, and Brent. I'm guessing staff wants a big bodied receiver, like Lazard or Dallis Todd (6'4-5" type). If Isaiah commits, do they still go hard after Quick? I'd think so, but if we get Quick and Isaiah (there's a decent chance this happens), that's 4 small-medium sized receivers.

I agree that McKenzie is next.

Corey Robinson is 6'5" so I don't think a "big" receiver is a pressing need.

Quick is a take no matter what IMO. I like him at receiver but some people are saying that his ceiling is higher at cornerback. I think he would play slot if he came to South Bend

For McKenzie, I think someone posted earlier that he would be a guy that would get a lot of screens and reverses because he is such an electric player

Agreed that Quick is a take no matter what. Can't have too many elite athletes. They'll find a spot for him somewhere.

As an aside, I don't think we're recruiting pure Z WRs anymore. Guys like McKenzie have to be dangerous coming out of the backfield as well.

I think this is true with the exception of the top guys, so I don't think the staff will press to have a slot guy in the class that much that they would offer a non elite tier prospect (ex Braxton Berrios) but they have offered the top 3 slot WRs in this class IMO: Artavis Scott, Adoree Jackson & Johnnie Dixon.

I also think Lazard is a take no matter what. Him and Brent could rival the Tate Floyd duo.

You mean one of the best(if not the best) receivers in Notre Dame history? While I like your enthusiasm I don't see that in Lazard.

And don't see Tate in Brent

Not similar play styles. As in overall production. I'd say no one thought Tate would be as good as he was when he was in high school.

Tate was a total freak athlete. I don't think he has the desire that some of the other guys had, but his hands and balance were like nothing I'd ever seen. He was not big, but he was so naturally strong. I hope that is what Bryant is like.

Well rivals has Lazard as the 25th best player in the country and I think we all think Rivals rankings> Espn rankings.

I'll take the 25th best player in the country every year. where was Floyd ranked when he came out? not a whole lot better than that if I recall correctly.

Floyd was a 5:s: #6 WR #27 Overall by Rivals, the most accurate at the time
Lazard is 4:s: #1 WR #25 Overall by Rivals and 4:s: #8 WR #81 Overall by the 247 Composite, what I would consider the most accurate now

It's that time of year again isn't it? This "could rival the best duo in ND history" and our thread comparing every recruiting to NFL HOFers is just ridiculous.

False, and it's silly to compare Weis Era production to Kelly Era production. Kelly's WRs and QBs will rewrite all of the record books if he's here for a decade, I have no doubts in that.
