There are a couple other threads floating out there with predictions but this one is devoted to one thing only:

Predict our record including the bowl game.

You can list the predicted losses if you want. I am going to assume we are down the 4 players all season but you don't have to assume that. My prediction:

9-4 (bowl win)

Losses:

Stanford--I just think they are better than us
@Florida St.---also better
@Arizona St.---bad matchup. We could have lost last year if a couple balls bounced their way. Their offense will be even better.
@USC---didn't want to predict a loss here considering they may be standing on one leg by the time we play them but I just have a bad feeling that Agholor is going to abuse someone all game.

I'll go with 10-3 with a bowl win.

Losses:

Stanford
North Carolina
Florida State

October could be a disaster. Stanford is Stanford. North Carolina is a perfect trap game. I think BK will have them ready for FSU, but Winston will do Winston things late in the game.

EDIT: Louisville also worries me. I wanted to say 9-4 originally, but I think BK has Petrino's number on this one.

I feel like it depends on the 4 missing players right now. I think 10-3 with them and 9-4 without them. 9 wins counting a bowl win or 10 wins with a bowl loss.

10-3

Losses to:

FSU
Stanford
Bowl opponent

9-4

Losses to:

FSU
Stanford
ASU
North Carolina

Either scenario seems plausible, but as long as there is a W next the Michigan game I will be pleased. I also think if we get the 3 starters back we can exceed 10 wins. I just think it will be difficult without our number 1 corner and receiver plus the loss of Ishaq on the DL will show its hand very quickly in games like Stanford and FSU. No matter what though, I am very excited and I think we have as good a team as Kelly has had since he got here.

There is no way to tell with this team :

A) We don't know about the four player's dispositions yet.
2) We are starting a bunch of young guys, with few seniors, but a broad band of second and third year starters. What affect on leadership?
III) Don't have any established superstars, but we could have a few baking in the oven, right now!
D) Expectations are for all the other teams on our schedule to play at or above their last years level. Stanford could drop a bit. USC has talent, but what have they really proved lately. With Fischer and FSU's record versus talent level, they could have a dog year, and it goes on. We don't have MSU and Pitt this year, coincidentally and ironically the two teams that I expect to be as good or better than they were last year.
5) We have turf. What is our additional point/performance gradient over the last several seasons on turf versus grass.
VI) We don't have a bend but don't break, two-gap defense this year. The one thing I will bet on is the under of front 7 defensive injuries compared to last years historic record.
7) We don't have last year's defense. Teams are going to have to adjust their offenses depending on what BVG gives them. For some teams it will be harder than others. Offenses are going to have to be more reactive, as opposed to just pushing the Irish around.
H) Not only do we have a quarterback, they all are on the same page, and every position group on offense has pretty arguably improved since last season. If Kelly can run his offense, it will be for the first time since he has been here! That alone throws most of the historical data out of the window!

Good luck. I predict a better offense. A better defense. And a team that is 10X more fun to watch.

10-3

Lose to: FSU and ASU in shootouts. Draw a tough opponent for bowl game and lose.

But we kick Michigan, USC, and Stanford's ass.

Geez, young team, new coaches/systems.... may lose key players to suspension... all against arguably the most difficult schedule in the country... Yet many expect ten wins??

My prediction is there may be a lot of pissed of posters on IE this season.

I'm watching "CFB Daily" on ESPNU. Jason Sehorn says that ND has the toughest schedule this season but added that the Irish "don't usually play a tough schedule." What?! I know he's a USC guy, but come on.

If a 'tough schedule' equals playing a couple of top five teams every year surrounded by a bunch of cupcakes and below average FBS teams (typical SEC schedule imo) then ND doesn't play a tough schedule... but I believe ND's run of 8-10 games a year of average or above competition, all one after another with little to no let up, is difficult every year… and one of the major reasons ND has fallen… I’d much rather have two to three games to highlight every year, surrounded by tune ups… it would serve ND much better imo. The Seahorns of the world see the lack of LSU and/or Oregon on the schedule and laugh it off without considering the grind.

No doubt there is a lot to overcome this season and the schedule is brutal. I just prefer to be pissed off at the end of the season versus the begining of the season. This time of year should be filled with hope and anticipation. Each year when ND loses it's first game...I come bouncing back to reality.

7-6 or 8-5 I originally had us at 9-4 but the loss of those 4 guys will cost us games. If by some miracle nothing happens then 9-4

10-2. Losses to Stanford and FSU. Not predicting a bowl because at 10-2 the range of possibilities are so broad that there is no point in guessing. Having a hard time figuring out where all the pessimism is coming from. Offseasons always seem rough for ND, but at the end of the day I don't think the team on the field is impacted by it all that much. Not having Russell could hurt, but I think we still have some guys there that may be able to play, and how many great QBs do we even face?

9-3. Losses to Stanford, FSU ASU. Nothing wrong with 9-3 with out schedule and all the crap that has happened. 2015 or bust.

9-3 as long as Golson stays healthy.

No idea about the bowl game until I see the match-up.

11-1...loss to FSU.

I'm in the minority when it comes to the 4 players being lost. I think it's a bigger loss in name then talent.

Moore is a career backup.

DD had a groin injury and wasn't really wowing in practice from what I remember. I believe the WR corps is the strongest group on the team and can afford him being gone.

Ishaq has been a disappointment his career and MAYBE he has a big year but chances were against it. Not to mention he wasn't receiving glowing praise either. Starter by default IMO.

KVR is the big loss. No dodging this one except Cody Riggs does offset it somewhat.

I think with the emergence of Folston and Bryant plus the return of EG, the offseason will be firing on all cylinders.

Defensively, the only true loss is KVR. Perhaps the change in defensive philosophy plus the emergence of some FROSH will cover. Remember, when KVR was announced a starter his FROSH year, it seemed like a lost position. And he was a RB.

Just because you don't know someone doesn't mean they aren't good.

I could name a hell of a lot more people ND would miss over DD, Moore, and Ishaq.

8-4 only because I can't bring myself to type anything worse.

I would kill for 9-3 with a bowl win.

9-3 would be a job very well done imo. This team has a lot of talent, more than many ND teams in recent history, but they are young and face a brutal schedule. Nine wins would be great imo.

Anyone know the most points Notre Dame has scored in a season? I think we might have one of those types of years.

9-3 or 10-2

I don't really agree with this statement, considering how many guys we had drafted last year. Assuming KVR is gone, we have less talent on defense than last year and our depth may be worse.

I think you're spot on about the players...

KM back up who woulda got passed up this year by young guys.

DD... Most overrated guy on the squad possibly. Completion per target was almost horrible. The sophs are loaded with real players and Chris Brown has been getting the press you expect DD to have gotten. Could a had a great year maybe... Could a got Wally Pipped too.

IW... He's been the biggest coulda on the team this decade. I don't know how his back up and the next guy on the depth chart will perform but hell, I have no idea how he would have either. I can say this... The reps that the young DE's get this year if IW is gone will pay off in '15 '16 '17, when we will be stocked with experienced & talented depth.

KVR... This has to really hurt... Right? I mean its not like we can expect a true freshman to step into his spot and help us make a run at a national title...right? That's never happened. To make things worse, ND didnt get a DB transfer with 4 years of SEC playing time under his belt to step into his spot...

The only irreplaceable players on this years squad are Smith, Day and Brindza

I'm going 10-2 with a loss at FSU and ..... I don't know where the other one is coming from as they are set up good against everyone else.... BUT.... They always lose one they shouldn't. With a 10-2 record they'll get a tough bowl so.... They win it! (Who knows).

11-2 sounds great. Sets up big things for '15 ... and the years I think are going to be real special... '16 & '17.
