Ignoring the fact that I don't deserve to be fourth in this race- I believe I am the ultimate underdog here. Fight the man! I am the people's candidate. George Washington approves of this message.

Edited my post.

Watching the race, I bet that dshans and I voted for the same member, in this race!

Which is kind of funny, when you think about it. Not that we voted for the same person, but that it was so apparent.

hmmmm, I'm on the edge of who to vote for, but I think the support from the slave-owing, tax evader really pushes me to a decision....

How are there 7 candidates with no votes. People nominated each of these guys and then left them hanging.

Au contraire, chara. I only voted in one category – Most Overated.

I voted for myself.

Outside of grammar I'm quite non-judgmental.

This is hard. I think it's gotta be IM8, Lax or Whiskey. Deciding among them requires you to decide what the essence of the site is. I mean, imo it's ND football and ND football recruiting info, discussion and analysis, but which of the three is primary, if any?

If it's ...
... Info/discussion,
IM8 is your winner. Brings tons of info to the board, keeps it clean, keeps the discussion on target when people say wrong things, adds to the discussion with his vast knowledge of recruiting and recruits in general and of our team.

... analysis -- Whiskey. I mean, no elaboration is necessary. Unmatched powers of analysis.

... all three equally -- Lax. I think I jokingly called him our LeBron last year ... he brings it in all phases.

Man, it's a tough call, all great posters (not to mention mods). Really, thanks to all the nominees for making the site fun to read.

Warning... I just poured myself a nice, tall glass of Hatorade and am going to spit some honesty for a second.

I do not understand why Ironman garners the votes he gets. I love him as a poster and he got my vote for All-Poster Team. He's one of maybe a half dozen guys on this site where if I see him as the most recent post I open the thread every time, because virtually every time it's something worth reading.

But for me voting on this award it was a very tough decision between STL, Wildman, and Whiskey. Ironman wasn't even someone I'd consider for this award, which I think is the equivalent to an MVP or Heisman style award. He's without a doubt one of the best if not the single best poster on this site, but what makes him Member of the Year? What did he do this year to earn it? What was his "Heisman" moment?

So I'm going to briefly campaign for the three guys I listed:
-Who'saWildmanNow must be the most underrated member of this site. How many of you have watched his various videos? How many of you enjoy Protect this House Friday? Do you guys appreciate the level of talent and effort it takes to produce these artistic gems? He brings something to this site and the Notre Dame nation in general that no one else does. He deserves a LOT more props than he gets.
-STLDomer brings as much if not more information than Ironman. He also took the reigns of the Master Lists and did a WONDERFUL job with them. He puts a lot of effort and time into things fro this site that everyone uses/enjoys. Master List 2014 had 1230 posts and 162k views, far outpacing last year's Master List. Why? Because it was awesomely done.
-Whiskeyjack... not much needs to be said here. He brings uniquely awesome analysis. The ROI thing was revolutionary, and has been used as an effective recruiting tool by the ND staff since he crunched the numbers. The board would simply not be the same without that unique contribution. Whiskey is at least running solid in the votes, which indicates that this fact is not lost on everyone.

In summary... I love Ironman, #1 poster on my list. He is not deserving of member of the year for a second consecutive year. It's a disservice to some other members, like the ones I mentioned above, that he is running away with the vote right now. It's the equivalent of Kobe being named an All-Star over less-acclaimed players with superior performance on the court. Don't vote for Kobe. Don't be that guy.

As an aside, obviously no one actually gives a shit who wins these things. Just thought I'd stir the pot a little.

Lax, can't say I agree with your opinion on Ironman (I don't think he needs a Heisman moment ... it would be like saying Andrew McCutchen shouldn't have won MVP because he had no MVP moment),

and you may be right about Wildman but I don't know (I don't watch the vids, but maybe I will this season),

but I def agree with you about STLDomer. He was overlooked for rookie of the year last year (I felt guilty about that) and he is getting overlooked again. Dude brings tons of info to this board, and he contributes as much as anyone to making this site as close as a free site will ever get to being a comprehensive recruiting database. Hats off to Slu, for sure.

STL has one vote. ONE! When I cast mine, I thought for sure that he'd be leading or at least out near the front. It's borderline criminal to me that he only has a single vote.

What makes someone THE Member of 2013? I'd say it's that you've made the most valuable contribution to the board. I think you'd be very hard pressed to make a case that STL isn't the guy who did that this past year. He brought his A game on every level.

I just do not get it. Shame on all you lemmings.

It probably should be one nomination per user then? Or maybe this is one of those awards where multiple votes should be cast in that case, I dunno. I certainly contributed to the issue, I think I nominated a few people  I did end up voting for one of my nominations though.

Agreed completely that SLU and Wildman have contributed far more than their votes are reflecting.

Since modesty likely prevented him from adding his own name to this list, allow me to briefly campaign for LAX. His combination of genuine insider info (which is the primary purpose of this site), reporting, moderation, and blogging on The Irish Turning Point was unmatched in 2013.

IM8 is the incumbent MotY, and while he certainly deserved it in 2012, LAX brought the goods in 2013. Vote LAX!

Allow me to campaign for myself:

- I bring the goods in the Hale Hentges thread on the reg. I originally said it would be an ND/Stanford battle and the recent CBs on 24/7 reflect that sentiment. I'm sorry, Turning Point who?

- I spend roughly 14 hours a day on here, but only average slightly under 3 posts/day. That is serious commitment to watching film, reading other posts, searching for appropriate South Park gifs, and manically refreshing the page to see if anything new was posted in the 4 seconds since I last checked while exercising self-restraint in posting.

- I have yet to 'cave' on the unlimited rep feature. When I rep you, it's meaningful. Like when a guy waits to leave til the morning.

- My gf is hotter than all of yours and I chose not to shame all of you. What proof do I have? She went to SMC. That was quite courteous of me.

- I know all the words to the "7th Floor Crew Rap" and I purposefully memorized them before the 2010 Sun Bowl vs. Miami. That's come in handy more than once.

- Despite irishog77's protest, I still love CREED. They're the best band in the world and I chose to not throw that in your faces 24/7.

- My grammar is fantastic.

If I cared about or voted in these polls, I'd vote for you, homie.

Actually, being completely honest, I'd probably vote you 3rd-- behind Heggie and Scott Stapp. But 3rd place in an imaginary, online creepy poll that I don't vote in is still pretty good though, huh?

Fuck it. We'll do it live.

Lax---NOT FUNNY. Can't remember the last time he made me laugh. Huge stick up the butt voted for him but sshhh

Ironman-- Mastering the art of embedding to beat us all to the most recent twitter news is a huge achievement but not worthy of Member of the Year. Craig Biggio of IE. All-star numbers and will ultimately make the Hall of Fame but shouldn't be the MVP.

Whiskey--way too smart to be posting his shit on the Internet. Go teach a Stats/Philosophy/Theology class and get off my screen. I come here to bitch, laugh, and get beer recommendations.

IrishTP--4 votes---are you serious? This isn't the Insider of the Year poll. Find the right thread folks.

Jimmymac got 1 vote besides his own?? Dude moved to another country to avoid having to do a naked lap. Coward.

Were any of these guys nominated for Avatar of the Year? NOPE
Was I nominated for Most Overrated? NOPE
Do I deserve to win this award? NOP..er um... YUP
