Well, yeah, sort of. But, look at what I replied to. "Basically, "pull his offer right now, let's move on." Alford is visiting him. That visit is going to determine a lot and will probably boil down to just what you said.

I'm simply willing to let them make that visit.

Fair enough. GK mentioned long term issues and when you said a day or 2, I was under the assumption that you weren't thinking big picture.

If I could have either, then yeah... I would take McKenzie. But that's not what we are saying. What we are saying is that Brown is ready to commit, then we would take that over the "hope" that IM will commit and stay. It's just a simple risk analysis.

Btw... if either player turned into TJ Jones, we would be all stoked. TJ is a great player, so I would be ecstatic if we could "clone" him.

You've stated it better than I could in trying to ask my question, which is: why isn't the staff following this simple risk analysis then? It has to be playing style/position fit, right?

And I would love to have three TJ's and a Corey Robinson on the field for every 4WR set. I wasn't trying to be disparaging or make it sound like, "oh, he's just another TJ clone."

Nelson's reactions and interviews toward ND never gave me the impression he would "possibly flip immediately" but Brown's did. Maybe Nelson's tune changed after visits though and he fits the mold better.

This is a good point. The flip-immediately part really suggests Brown, unless it's someone totally off the radar.

i'm on board with bringing in brown if it's him...i'm pretty convinced he could handle the riggers of being a student athlete at ND.

i am less than 10% sure that IM would be able to.

Damn I step away for 2 hours and this page goes another 3 pages deep. Love you guys, but right now I think IM is overrated.

why not take both IM and Brown if Brown will flip asap and IM signs on NSD?

we are on track to be below the 85 anyway unless we get a miracle (and VERY unlikely) haul from here on out.

Look who's talking.

Those riggers are no joke. Especially if you live in Fischer:

Probably because the staff feels they are still in it for Quick. Adding three more WRs this year would be like 10 total in two years.

Is he referring to IM?

Could be. IM allegedly needs to maintain a B average this semester just to remain eligible. Who knows what the odds of that happening are? Probably safe to assume he hasn't managed to do that yet during his high school career or he wouldn't be in this position.

I thought Notre Dame refused to make exceptions for football players who were below the academic standards set for regular applicants. Surely someone who is barely NCAA-eligible is below such a standard.

Wow. Very disappointing, but great to know for sure with 6 days left to execute the backup plan, whatever it is.

I would have been happy with him at ND. I'm not disappointed though, just glad this fucking recruitment is over with. What a headache.

When talking about the upshot for the rest of the class, I didn't mention McKenzie...for good reasons. Good luck to Isaiah, but in the end, there were too many things that lead me to believe he wouldn't have made it at ND. And as much as I like what he brings as a player, we just weren't a good fit for each other in the end. (I only really started to see this a month or two ago. I certainly wasn't the first to see it.)

On to the next one

I always thought of this recruitment like a nerd-turned-hottie story in high school. No one bats an eye at her but once she becomes hot and grabs the attention of the captain of the football team everyone wants her. And she becomes a bitch.
