Is someone really arguing ND vs OSU? Are you sure those posts aren't dated before January 7, 2013?

Holy hell everyone cut it out. He is a true freshman who apparently has an injury that will prevent him from seeing the field.

Let's root for the guys on the field, and hope Greg gets well enough to help them soon.

He could be a great player, and I hope he sees the field soon, but the world doesn't end with our without him.

Bump!

Regarding Greg's injury:

Greg Bryant Notre Dame tailback - chicagotribune.com

The nagging questions about when Notre Dame would play five-star freshman tailback Greg Bryant have been answered.

That answer: Probably not until 2014.

Bryant has a “severe case of patellar tendinitis,” Irish coach Brian Kelly told reporters after practice Thursday, and will undergo a four-week platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy program to address the injury.

I'm no doctor, but it seems like this type of injury would be pretty painful, especially for a running back.

Patellar tendinitis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From the wiki article and Tribune article, it seems he would be on a stage 3.

From this description I'm assuming they tried the R.I.C.E. and physical terrorist and are moving on to the next level of treatment.

I wish him well and more "B"s to guarantee his days after football.

From the wiki

Treatment
Bracing is not required for this condition.[citation needed]
Early stages may be treated conservatively using the R.I.C.E methods.
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
A physical therapist may also recommend specific exercises and stretches to strengthen the muscles and tendons. Should this fail, autologous blood injection, or injection of platelet rich plasma may be performed and is typically successful though not as successful as high volume saline injection (Crisp et al.). Uncommonly it may require surgery to remove myxoid degeneration in the tendon. This is reserved for patients with debilitating pain for 6–12 months despite conservative measures. Novel treatment modalities targeting the abnormal blood vessel growth which occurs in the condition are currently being investigated.

Woah woah woah. I'm more of a physical torturer than a physical terrorist. Terrorist just sounds so awful!

I actually evaled a high school soccer player with this impairment yesterday morning. It is a nagging and annoying injury, especially with someone with such strong legs. My girl responded pretty well to what I did with her, and has a pretty good prognosis. But sometimes it doesn't work out that way. I'm glad it appears that they are addressing what is causing the injury as opposed to just masking the pain with injections, which is all too common.

Kuehn isn't a PT too is he?

So the coaches actually had a reason not to play him?

Hmmmm who would have thought they knew more than we did?

A player must play in no more than 30 percent of a season in order to be eligible for a medical redshirt. Bryant will have played in just 25 percent of Notre Dame's regular-season games. (Bowl games do not count in the calculation.)

Notre Dame followed a similar formula last season with Ronnie Stanley, who appeared in a reserve role in the first and fourth games of 2012 before an elbow injury forced him to shut it down for the season. Stanley now starts at right tackle as a redshirt freshman with three years of playing eligibility remaining after this season.

Must be divine providence, couldn't be a sign of intelligent life, these rocks are barren, Commander!

People in this thread are crazy, talking like it's a done deal that he's transferring. It's like people have expectations of transfers and project it on to players who may or may not transfer.

This week's sign that the Apocalypse is upon us:

Title2114 is the voice of reason.............

At least confirmation is finally coming after a big win, when we have some momentum. Imagine if this had broken after the Oklahoma loss...

If something does come of this, this is what I don't get.

If he is upset about playing time this year, more than likely he will get a good amount of touches next year if in fact he has more superior talent than the gentlemen ahead of him.

So he misses this year and plays next year but if he transfers then he misses this year AND next year before he can play again.

Suck up the one year rather than missing two seasons.

This... and isn't he hurt anyway???

If half of IE is complaining about GB not getting playing time, what do you think he is hearing probably nonstop from others that are closer to him? Would be easy to fall into a trap of feeling you have been wronged. I hope it's not true, but obviously won't be surprised if it is true.

Yea I already pointed that out in another thread. Why wait until Thursday to break big news like that. Someone else will beat them to it.

Watch it turn out to be someone else. Will Mahone or someone (not that I've heard he's unhappy).
