is Crawford sold on playing defense? is there any potential on the offensive side where we could put him in the slot

I thought the same thing, I like his offensive tape, a guy who runs a 4.3 in the slot sounds good to me.

We seem to be going away from small slot players. Think CJ, James O. or some TEs.

Reading Crawford's comments to Loy I don't think there is any way he commits to UM until he finds out if ND is going to offer or not.

Pretty pretty solid update from Loy. Crawford said he's been to Michigan a bunch of times but his ND visit was the best one he's had. If his next couple visits to ND go as well, ND would be his leader (says he doesn't have a leader now). Not upset with the no offer, understands that ND just doesn't throw offers out to anyone.

True, but I don't think the staff is counting out short guys that can play like McKenzie for this class.

He visited Michigan a few times before they offered. It's good to hear he understands the 'game' and will not hold this against ND.

Also, I read his parents will play a large role in his decision so it will be interesting to hear what they say coming out of the Michigan visit if this is their first time on campus. I don't know if that's true or not, but regardless will be interesting to hear what they say.

Views Michigan and ND as offering the same thing, "great football and great academics," but just in two different environments. This visit to UM was different and Michigan is his leader. Though he didn't think about committing while he was there he said he wants to sit down with his family and talk it over.

If he views them equally and one of them has already offered.....

If he is viewing them equally academically then ND is either "under-emphasizing" their academics or Michigan is exaggerating theirs --- or he just doesn't care and views a book is a book, college is college.

5'8" corner that views ND and Mich the same academically? Got to be a future Wolverine.

Ricardo Allen is 5'9 and Cierre Wood jumped over him. I think this guy could grow some more and even if he doesn't he could be a good player. I doubt we would offer him if he stays the same, though.

He's 5'9", he measured in his socks at 5'9-1/8" at a NIKE SPARQ camp and ran a laser timed 4.51 as a sophomore. He just won his district this summer with a 10.5 in the 100m.

He has plenty of time to grow, and I think he could actually wind up being a slot receiver at the next level because he's very explosive. If he ran at The Opening or a Nike SPARQ event right now I wouldn't be surprised to see him run 4.45 or even better. Very fast kid. Emphasis on the word kid, he's only going to get bigger and faster as he grows.

At that height he could easily be closer to 5'11" when he hits campus. That was VHIII and Mac from 2013 and taller than Neal (who could have played DB) and Toma (comparing slot athlete) when they came out. Diaco may prefer taller guys but talent and speed trumps an extra inch in height. If they coaches like what they see, then it's easy to imagine them offering when he will undoubtedly continue to fill out physically.

Loy just posted that he expects Crawford to commit to Michigan shortly. He said he's leaving his crystal ball on Notre Dame though because he thinks when/if Notre Dame offers that he would end up in South Bend. Apparently we made a great impression on him.

He didn't cite sources but said that he recently got done speaking with Crawford so maybe this is inference mostly from the horse's mouth.

Personally, I hate this trend towards early recruiting. I don't know why kids are in such a rush to pick a school if they have interest in different places and not a "dream school" they are 100% set on.

I just don't get the rush to decide. We haven't even started the 2013 season yet and a kid who has 18 months until his can be official wants to commit - even when he knows he will probably receive offers from other schools worth considering. Unless it's his dream school then this will always boggle me.

At some point after his ND visit Loy said that he thought we lead for him even after he publicly said that Michigan did. It was just because we didn't offer. Loy also said that he thinks when we offer and he's confident we eventually will, he'll flip to the good guys. His family was blown away by ND and he called it his best visit ever, after visiting Michigan a lot. He's been pretty spot on with how this recruitment has been going.

Another elite recruit to Michigan. Wow.

Per a lot of people, we would've landed him if we offered. I don't know why we didn't... maybe too short or CB isn't a priority... Loy expects us to offer down the road and for him to flip, but I don't know if I buy that at all.

With the recent developments opening up spots, he would be worth it regardless of whether he has the desired measurables. IMO
