As an aside, isn't it freaking weird that Kelly came to ND as a QB whisperer... a guy who took nobodies with little talent and made them dominant college players... and the QB position is one the one position that has been a mess since he got here? Not the defense that was awful under Weis... he turned that around in a jiffy. Not the positions with disastrous depth like CB... he plugged in a true frosh RB and boom... solid play. Literally every other position besides the one he was supposed to be the guru for is playing at a very high level. ND has always been the cradle of QBs capable of attracting that type of kid no matter... we were supposed to not be able to recruit the DL because kids from the south "don't like cold" and yet we have two 1st rounders from the south manning the trenches? What??

QB? Inherited a 5:s:... looked like he would play for a couple years and then we'd move on to his heir... and so on and so forth... and then injury, Tommy Rees, mental implosion, back to Tommy Rees, to RS frosh work-in-progress, and now back to Tommy Rees/Hendrix... with potentially only 1 scholarship QB on the roster next year if we don't get multiple people in this class or get Hendrix to stick around.

I mean seriously... what the ****? It's just a disaster. There is no way of sugar coating it we basically need 1-2 QBs in this class (which is God awful for QBs) or a transfer into the program of some sort.

The offensive skill position recruiting in this cycle is going to be really interesting to watch moving forward.

I see where you are going with this, but I personally do not blame Kelly for this (not saying you do, but some people feel differently).

Dayne was a great person that lost confidence in himself. Was BK responsible for this? I would say yes, but only to certain degrees.

The QB's he has recruited have been Golson, Gunner and MZ. I think you could argue that recruiting QB's have not been the problem, but keeping them on the roster has been. Gunner saw the writing on the wall that he would have a hard time getting on the field. I cannot blame Gunner for transferring and I cannot blame Kelly either. I also cannot blame Kelly for what happened to Golson. That is all on EG.

To me, we focus too much on what hasn't gone right compared to what has. From all accounts, EG was going to have a breakout year. The way Kelly developed EG last year and the way he was able to make sure TR was engaged mentally all year speaks volume to both Kelly and the players.

I feel the QB situation has been so unlucky, it is laughable. If EG doesn't make a boneheaded move, we are fine. If EG makes the boneheaded move 2 months earlier, we are fine. The timing was so very unlucky for Kelly, that I find it very difficult to say he is responsible for it.

Yep, this. Previously edited my prior post in this discussion to say something similar. The QB play was as good as it had to be last season. Kelly deserves credit for that.

1. Where was your 'question'? Is it the one where you asked if he gave information 'to feel cool'? Or is it the one where you asked what he added as an insider while giving information? (I'll give you a hint, your answer is in the question).

2. You honestly believe 'anyone with internet access' can give us the information he does?

3. Already addressed the credibility line, but I ask another question - what credibility do you think he is trying to build? Personal? You don't know who he actually is, do you? As a symbol or organization of sorts? Already there in terms of proving the value and accuracy of the information. Are you talking in terms of being an actual representative of the University of ND? Do you honestly believe that is what he is doing? How is he going about doing that? How is it 'clear', especially given that he gives no information about himself?

1) Neither. The question I wanted answered was answered by whiskeyjack, regarding his association with ND.

2) No, so why even hint? What do you get out of it? There's no value for TP nor the members of this site. Recruiting 'hints' with no information? No thanks. His perspective on football players, games, opponents, etc? Absolutely welcome.

3) I have no idea who the entity TP is, whether it's an individual or what, but based on his facebook page and twitter account (not IE), he's clearly trying to build his credibility as a person/group associated with the University, which is where I wanted clarification.

Sorry to upset you. Had I know that questioning the validity of the relationship between the University of Notre Dame, and The Turningpoint or lack thereof would have upset you, I would have passed lol.

Jesus on ice skates, guys. This thread sucks. I'm super serial.

For like the 5th time today, it's over. Let's stop rehashing **** like this. People come here to read updates, not everyone chiming in 12 hours later.

BACK TO BUSINESS GENTS:

Dawkins, Luatua, and/or Holmes are our best bets for "next to commit" IMO. Dawkins sees his opportunity. By all accounts we lead for Luatua and maybe a summer visit could convince his parents to let him pop. Holmes has been trending upwards with another visit scheduled this month.

I'd like to see us get involved with Randall Cunningham - he's a 6'5" mobile QB with some good blood lines.

Remember the name: Nicodem Pierre. Kid is blowing up. Offered by Cincinnati, Mississippi St, and Georgia in the last 5 days.

This is the guy I want. We need to offer soon though. He's falling in love with Baylor.

Don't think we would offer a kid that has probably never played a meaningful down of varsity football.

Agree in general but he was behind Anu Solomon and his dad is, well, Randall Cunningham. I could see an offer in this situation. Not predicting one but it isn't that unlikely, IMO.

Under normal circumstances I would agree, but LSU, Miss St and Baylor don't seem to have a problem with it.

Especially with us probably taking 2 QB's this year. Cunningham and Kizer would be a good combo.

I'm not personally against just think the staff won't offer him. Fairly certain his offer to LSU isn't commitable. If he ends up at Baylor good for him, probably will put up insane numbers in a few years

This could be Captain Obvious talking here but could some teams be waiting until the fall to see how he plays as the main guy before offering?
