Let's hope that you haven't blown his cover on this and an unamused staff finds out about it. A lot of staffs don't like the players engaged in basketball with non-team personnel [risk of accidents] let alone one with a leg injury.....

give me a break....who gives a ****.. He's a kid..

Well, for one Coach Kelly gives a ****. He doesn't allow players to play Bookstore Basketball to reduce the chance of an injury. Other than that it doesn't really matter if anyone else cares.

The last several posts smells like NDnation. Smh.

How do you figure? I looked through and saw a great difference between what anyone at IE posted and what the least rabid NDNation poster has barked. The tip off is that no one called for Kelly's head! LOL.

Sorry guys, haven't been following spring ball THAT closely this summer, and I didn't mean to start anything. Just thought it was cool that I got to play some ball with Chris :whoknows: didn't mean to be "telling on him" or anything!

Don't worry, some people like to embellish the importance of our board, and think BK wakes up every morning, logs in, and says "Let's see what Trinity thinks about me today!!!"

Except for the fact that Coach Kelly actually does wake up to see what's on Trinity's mind...and who is at the top of that ever so important list.

I just read DameFan's blog post about what he saw at spring practice, and it is a little "insane rant"-y but he had a great line about Chris Brown:

Last year he was MR. GO ROUTE....Now?...guess what...Happy learned how to putt!

Um, that is hilarious. The Happy Gilmore lines get me every time, and I wanted to share.

He won't be a complete wide-out until he learns that it's all in the hips.

Here's another one for you. Basically his dad wants him to go to the Gamecocks. Hopefully Chris gets to make his own decision.

Browns want to know USC's position

I feel really bad for Chris having a father figure like that in my life. Not because he wants South Carolina over Notre Dame, but because he is domineering and every quote out of his mouth has been all about him. My Dad always encouraged me to succeed in whatever I wanted to do... I just can't imagine having a father with the kind of ego that makes him think it's OK to say things like what I quoted above.

I hope we get Ian Thomas because I really don't see this commit sticking.

These quotes are from a long time ago, and I took out the names because these posters didn't know the whole story at that time and were just reacting to what they heard.

But last night I got to have a beer with Chris Brown's dad and talk to him for about 30 mins...man, what a good dude!!! All that bs that was being written about him was just plain wrong. Pro ND all the way, and has been from the jump. He was just letting Chris make his own decisions, but he wanted ND for Chris (especially as the process went deeper and he got to know the schools better).

Anyways, theres more but we'll keep that at the drinking table, but I just wanted to share that Mr. Brown is a GREAT guy and fine representative of the ND family. And Chris is doing well and loving his time at ND. Hope he gets to let 'er rip today but we'll see how cautious the coaches are with him...

Word...thanks for the update.

From what I remember Mr. Brown has always been cool and supported Notre Dame. He comes on here every once and a while and is really cool and nice guy. If I remember Chris's recruiting, the town that he lived in pushed hard for him to go to USC and they treated him poorly when he decided to go to Notre Dame.

Hanahan is about 10 minutes from where I live. Initially there was the "why would he not go to So. Car.?" Same with Golson. But it faded quickly once he committed.

There were not much sour grapes though. He was not highly ranked for football. Considering the caliber of recent WRs out of this state anyway. He was more track/triple jump guy if I recall.

Shame that the people who were able to see him live couldn't see his potential. Just watching his film I knew I wanted this guy and that every team really should.

Mr. Brown's posts on this board were always among the most intelligent and cultured of the times. I got to the point where I was wanting us to give HIM a scholarship as much as Chris.

Man... looking back, it is RIDICULOUS how twisted those quotes from the SC paper were. I mean they didn't just imply his dad was trying to push him to South Carolina... they outright said it as black and white.

Just did some cleanup of reactions from myself and others to those quotes that were... uhh... less than stellar.....

REVISIONIST, ENTRENCHED, POWER HUNGRY PEEG!!! Control the narrative! Re-write history! Whatever it takes! POWER TO THE PEOPLES' KEEPERS!

I'm grateful that Chris and his family kept this little IE corner of the internet world in reasonable perspective.

Brown definitely looked bigger at the Blue-Gold game. I think he will develop into a solid all around WR.

back to Chris here

I believe he's one of the guys coach kelly was referring to after the game that needs to step up in the receiving core to compliment TJ and DD. If he can fill into his potential i will be a lot more excited about our WR core

p.s. - i am SUPER pumped about what i saw out of c.j. prosise and i'm not even included the TD he caught in broken coverage....GREAT move by the staff moving him to the slot, honestly he already looks more comfortable there then Neal did all of last year, but whose to say he would not have looked similar or better had he stuck around.

That's good to hear for Breezy and James. Tommy could use as many receiving weapons as possible
