We'll be fine at QB. He would have been good depth but he wasn't going to start a game for the next three years. If he can't beat out the guy that we have starting, maybe he wasn't as elite as many of us thought he was.

Golson isn't a big kid, so he's very likely to get banged up now and again. The odds of him starting every game for the rest of his career are not good. Kiel would have had many opportunities had he stayed.

And let's not cry sour grapes already. Excepting Clausen, he was the highest rated QB we'd brought in since Mirer. We're definitely not better off without him.

You want to know what's a good thing? Having five stars transfer because their position is full. This is a problem I hope to see continue.

First world problems in CFB.

I'm not gonna knock the kid but I officially don't give a **** about him anymore. Sucks he couldn't stick around cause I'm sure he would get a shot but whatever.

I didn't say we'd be better off without him, I said we'll be ok without him. If Golson goes down I'm comfortable with Hendrix and I think Rees has shown he can win. I think of all the backups I'm most excited to see Zaire in action. He seems to be a good fit for what Kelly is trying to do with Golson.

Props to Brian Kelly for his response to the entire Keil situation. Coach Kelly may be a lot of things to a lot of different people, but he refuses to express regret at the expense of those fully committed to the team. We have an arsenal of players ready to slug it out for each other and the University they represent. Kelly respects that level of sacrifice by fostering and encouraging competition to the upmost, and it shows. Personally, I respect that.

I appreciate the high road BK has taken, more or less "no big deal, yet supportive of gunner" stance. A lot of coaches could have taken the Les/low road. At least Les didn't burn a scholarship for a year, and miss on a QB in a cycle.

I'm ready to forget about ND+GK. I still hope he does well, hopefully at IU or UT.
I vote thread closure until news of firm transfer (where) comes out.
Tired of hearing all the butt hurt posts.

“@TomGroeschen: Gunner Kiel, former 5-star QB recruit who is leaving Notre Dame, was at #UC scrimmage today. Has been in town 2 days #bearcats”

“@TomGroeschen: A #UC source says the #Bearcats believe they have a good shot at landing Kiel”

Who is Cincy's coach now?

Tommy Tuberville. Left Texas Tech for Cincy.

Possibly looking like a smart move now.

This would be awesome for UC. They lose their top 2 QBs after this season, so Kiel would have the opportunity he is looking for as well.

UC usually gets some pretty good athletes too, so he should have some weapons to work with.

UC is an hour and a half from Columbus East HS. One would think this has a bunch to do with it.

That name Gunner sounds familiar. Hmmmmm. My memory isn't what it use to be. What did he do here, I can't seem to find any stats on him?
