Doesn't even have the chest to be a starter at Cincy. lol. We sure lucked out on that.

self-inflicted ugly sh*t

Is it public knowledge that he took pain pills recreationally?

I thought i read he got hooked due to a legit injury?

For some, it's one dance and they're done. I have a straight laced buddy who didn't do anything, didn't even drink... anything but milk that is. Got rear ended, jacked his back and he was a junky by the end of his first day on Oxy's. Ruined his life.

So have just a little compassion.

Sorry, not sorry. Everything this kid has gone through was self-inflicted.
No sympathy here for me after what he did for ND.

His multiple injuries on the football field and his recurring back/rib issues certainly weren't self-inflicted, and that's what lead him down the crappy path he went on...

I'm glad he's healthy and back with the program, starting at QB or not. Perhaps we should applaud his victory over his problems, rather than kicking him over his now small-picture football losses.

He got hooked after taking an ass beating last year. I was hooked after surgery and it took me 6 months to kick it after I didn't need them

He did bring a lot of off the field issues on him self for acting like a spoiled prick but unfortunately the medical field thinks taking pains meds is the cure to everything. In which it isn't and doc's will just keep filling the prescriptions with out trying other methods. It's a shame and the medical team should have seen this coming on. So his addiction could have been helped by the Professionals and they should see the signs.

My post had nothing to do with drugs. I honestly had no idea he was hooked on that shit.
I was referring to his play on the field. I dont follow our players, let alone former players, enough to really care about their personal lives.
I just think he dicked us over in the past, and could care less about him.

He dicked us over? Because he transferred because he wasn't going to start? He wanted to play, got beat out by Everett and if he would have stayed he would have started probably for three years. Didn't work out but don't understand how you can hate on a kid for coming and leaving. Do you hate Brandon Wimbush, Josh Barajas, Max Redfield, Dexter Williams, Daelin Hayes for ditching their schools?

What you mean you don't follow "our players"? Clearly you do

Bullshit, you're backtracking haha. Someone mentioned "kicking his demons," at which point you gave it the ol' "sorry not sorry."

I think you were trying to sound unsympathetic about his drug issues, but realized it was a dick move. There's no way you didn't know what you were responding to in terms of Gunner kicking his demons.

Why should he really care if he left ND or not? Maybe on some low base, fundamental level a person should stick with a commitment, but this is college football. Ultimately it's just a game, and for some players it becomes a career. When you're a talented player that isn't seeing the field it's a lost opportunity. If you're sitting the bench with little chance to see the field at your current school, and you might be able to squeeze a couple seasons out in the NFL if you transfer, what would YOU do? Some of us are diehard fans and ride the bench, but the smart person transfers. Hell, maybe he just wanted to play on Saturdays. In this life you don't have to make anyone happy but yourself.

I work in Columbus, IN and for what it is worth have been told by multiple people Gunner had a drug problem in high school. He may have been hooked well before stepping foot on a college campus.

Not backtracking at all. I don't follow players personal lives like some do on here. I follow this website to hear news and updates on my team. I could care less what you guys think of me. I don't personally know you, or plan to ever meet any of you. It is what it is.

Had the same thing happen to my straght-laced neighbor...some people are wired for addiction. Period. Very sad seeing the perfect family torn up.

I think most should take you at your word that you were unaware of his drug abuse. I know there are certain players on the roster that I don't have a clue about (namely by Avery S. is not suited to start...I assumed with him being off for so long and having a large amount of time to recover, he'd be ready to start game 1).

"Doesn't even have the chest to be a starter at Cincy. lol. We sure lucked out on that."

Nothing jibing at his drug abuse at face value. I just assumed, since it is relatively known, you knew about it and were taking a shot.

Still often wonder what would have happened if he stayed...

Yeah, but you said a someone dick comment that could've been explained away by ignorance of his situation. A couple of us said something about his drug addiction being caused by injury and such, and then you still doubled down on a dickish comment.
