SC is a wounded animal in just about every way possible... Lot of danger with wounded animals.

I was out in Newport and Balboa Beach all day today (huge SC areas) and everyone I came across was glad Barkley was out and happy that Wittek is starting.

Looking ahead to next year. We know how that feels-better them than us!

I know BK isn't about style points or running up the score, but maybe just this once he can make an exception?

I would love to see us completely embarrass USC, starting with less than 10 points in their column and ending with a walk on QB taking half of the fourth quarter snaps.

Finish strong IRISH!

Almost every USC fan I've talked to... starting well before Barkley got hurt... basically said that everyone assumes Wittek is more talented than Barkley and they weren't expecting any drop off once he leaves. I'm not sure if I believe it but suffice to say what makes USC great are their skill position players and what makes them bad are penalties, a lack of fundamentals, a lack of mental toughness, mistakes, and turnovers. So all of those are correctable if you get "up" for a game and/or don't have Barkley throwing so many INTs.

I'm really interested to see how this all plays out on Saturday. Hopefully Kiffin is stupid enough to try to run the ball.

Only thing I'm worried about in this game is USC bringing their "A" game for the first time this year. They have yet to put together a complete game on both offense and defense... but they have the athletes. They just usually screw themselves over with penalties, turnovers, missed tackles, etc.

What if they play "up" for the first time? We could be in real trouble then.

I am actually just worried about Kiffin's play calling. They have absolutely nothing to lose and will likely do anything to end ND's dream season. I expect him to go for it on several 4th downs as well as take 5+ shots deep to Lee or Woods. Wittek has a stronger arm and I can see them just letting him air it out. I also wouldn't be suprised to see some trick plays.

I am not buying all the "Wittek is better than Barkley" crap. Trojans were saying the same thing about Aaron Corp when he was forced to play. Anyone can look good when they are throwing without a defense on the field coming after them. I actually saw some posters trying to rationalize and say that during pregame warm ups Wittek clearly looks like a better QB. Seriously?! This is his first start against the #1 defense and #1 team in the country in primetime with a bad offensive line.

My favorite quote from my high school baseball coach spoken while watching the opposing team take infield practice before a game - "Everyone looks good in practice."

I said the same thing yesterday. I'm terrified of this scenario playing out. I feel like this sort of thing happened to us last year. Things seemed to "click" for the Trojans in South Bend. That game set the tone for the rest of their season. They dominated both sides of the line right out of the gate. I just hope it doesn't happen again. It's crucial we don't start slow and give them hope. We need to be the ones throwing the punches to the mouth this year.

Even if Witteck has more potential, Barkley is a 4-year starter and is incredibly familiar with the timing with his top 2 targets. Witteck may one day be better, but don't kid yourself. Having a RS freshman make his first start of his career against this defense is a great thing.

PS, one of my good friends graduated from ASU and moved back home shortly afterwards. Went to a couple USC games as a casual fan and actually met Marquise Lee. Said he went to 2 parties Lee attended and Lee just sat in the corner and toked up the whole time.

These seniors have had to endure mediocre seasons capped off by a drubbing by USC to finish the year several times.

I'm not worried about our team being prepared for this. I would be more worried if it was just some random team we had to beat. This is USC, this is our biggest rival. Our lads are going to be jacked for this game.

This is a distinct possibility ... but how great are the chances? Most likely USC will look like the same undisciplined, fundamentally unsound team that we've seen all season. I put our chances of winning at about 75-80%.

I absolutely love this. For years, under Weis, we were the team with all the talent but poor fundamentals. It's glorious that the tables are turned.

USC fans may have been clamoring for Wittek, but remember if he was better wouldn't he be starting? The backup QB is almost always the most popular player on a team.

I think USC will come out flat after getting beat by UCLA. They still had a shot at a decent season (not great but decent) if they won out. UCLA took care of that. Wittek will get his reps in practice, but that is never close to a real game. He'll be rushed and hurried all night long. His best ally will be the dink and dunks which plays right into our hands. USC's defense is like a tub of Country Crock that was put in the microwave for two minutes. The O-line is going to man-handle them. Riddick, Woods and GAIII will have a great day.

Opportunity is smacking the Domers in the face on this one. I wouldn't want it any other way! Bring on our biggest rival in the final game of the season to decide our fate. I would really like to see us have a dominating performance in this one. We have all the experience now in the secondary and a QB that has taken control of his team now! Then give us 15 practices for the SEC champion. This is Kelly's chance and Manti's chance to have statues of themselves! Could be legendary!

All in all I have never been more proud to be a fan than right now and everything I thought this team would accomplish this year has been exceeded. On the other hand I have never wanted more from an Irish team than I do right now! They got me straight up believing that they are gonna make it happen! Love this team!

All those fans saying less than good things about Barkley, would have Barkley start 100 times out of 100 if he was healthy. Those delusional USC fans and just lying to themselves.....again. However, I dont blame the fans for lying to themselves, they get it from the coach.
