Possibility according to Swarbrick.

Thursday night football at Notre Dame Stadium?

Not happening, but Notre Dame's impending scheduling relationship with the Atlantic Coast Conference could mean an Irish football road game on a Thursday night sometime in the not-so distant future.

"With all of our teams, we'd rather avoid missed class time," ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick said Wednesday while making an in-studio appearance on WSBT's Weekday SportsBeat radio show.

"(Playing football) on a weekday obviously causes some missed-class consequences. The flip side of that is we really like prime-time broadcasts. It's the best way to promote the university. In the case of a couple of games this year, you go from an audience of 2 million to an audience of 6.2 million -- for the Michigan State game. That's a good thing for Notre Dame, so there's a balance."

Make it not happen. We're ND shouldn't be that big of a problem.

I don't see any advantages to Thurs night games, does anyone else?

Only advantage for me personally is it frees up my weekend. Plus you get more exposure because you're the only game on(Minus Thurs night NFL).

I still would not want to see it happen.

Forsake me if you will, but I don't mind the Thursday night games... what I consider the "golden age" of Thursday night games, where you would see Death Valley at Clemson rocking or the crowd at VT going nuts to Enter Sandman, or even an undefeated BK-lead UC team upsetting top-ten USF, Thursday night games can create pretty awesome atmospheres. Of course, it would be an away Thursday night game for ND, but still good exposure and would leave Saturday to enjoy football other than ND.

Of course, if ND were to lose on a Thursday night after a short week, I would be Thursday Night's greatest enemy.

Maybe if there were a bye the previous week. Otherwise, I hate the short week and change to the players' routine.

All that means is that I will have to take vacation on Thursdays in the future! Win win! I'd still rather they didn't do it.

I gotta agree with Title2014, road games only if it happens. I don't like the idea that the sold out streak comes to an end /w a Thursday night game. It probably wouldn't come to that, but you're very likely to see a lot of empty seats in an 80,000 seat stadium if you schedule a game for a Thursday night. Thats a lot of requests off work that won't be possible.

They will sell out every game, even on Thursdays.

I'd be okay with it if its an away game.

Depends on who were playing. If its ND vs. Duke, Wake, NC State, Virginia, or Syracuse a thursday night would probably get us more viewers. Its pointless to play those scrubs on Saturday when bigger games are on

One positive thing...the girlfriend wouldn't get upset about not having me on Saturdays.

I think you got it. What if we played @ Boston College on Thursday then had the extra two days before say USC. Not a bad scenario.

Title should be Notre Dane could play on Thursdays or something like that.

I don't think we should ever have to play on any day but Saturday.

Unless it's the NC game :smilewink

I don't really mind that much as long as we get a bye the previous week. Short weeks are awful, especially for an away game.

I think the idea sucks.

The only game I could see it possibly working for would be the first game of the year?

ND plays at 3:30 ET on Saturdays or in primetime on Saturday night. Saturday is CFB day. All these games on other days are a joke.
