jordan prestwood ‏ @Jprestwood Feels great to be apart of this place!

Love to see things like this.

As do I, assuming that "apart" is twittwerese for "a part." I'm looking forward to his being a piece of the whole that is Notre Dame, not being separate from it.

There's only room for two people on CM's lawn. CM, and the person he's kicking off his lawn.

Yep, I do have very real concerns about this team moving forward... the O line is definately not one of them.

And this group is being coached by someone that I believe will do a phenomenal job with them. This is a coach that was met with much skepticism upon his hiring. He has already proven a success on the recruiting trail, we're about to see his value on the field.

Has there been any updates about Brad Carrico and a possible medical leave?

I hope that 309 lbs is good clean weight, which I would think it is with Longo...

I'll bet Prestwood has nothing but highly functional attack poundage on him. He is known as a nasty-on-the-field battler. He wants some playing time, Lombard's or NMartin's, and to be ahead of Nichols. He's not going to be adding flab. I think that it may well be difficult for Hiestand to keep him off the field even if he doesn't start.

Typical college lines regularly play about eight linemen, and Prestwood should be in that eight somewhere. My uninformed guess is that the eight will be both Martins, Cave, Watt, Lombard, Hegarty, Prestwood, and Golic, though I'd give a couple of the other guys a shot at Golic's minutes if he hasn't gotten stronger.

We've got a lot of guys with nasty O-Line attitudes and high strength and skill there. Nick Martin has been a stunner apparently.

That's awesome though because I wasn't expecting much of him when he came from Kentucky. Assumed he was just another big ugly to fill the depth chart. Pleasant surprise that he is doing so well.

From the paper data I think that few thought that Nick was going to be elite but might grow into a semblance of Zach in time. But the first thing that I heard about him from a coaching quote was that Nick Martin "has an attitude" that he doesn't just want to block you, he wants to run you into the ground. That's similar to the comments about Prestwood.

Neither of these guys may be Jeff Faine in that extreme, but it sounds like they're part of the Faine run-em-out-of-bounds clan. Big brother Zach also apparently taught young Nick well, as he's accelerating into the starting position. Jordan probably doesn't like that, as he could see the alternative line-up of him at right tackle and Christian at right guard, if Nick wasn't bogarding in on the situation. That's why I said that I bet none of those pounds Jordan added are waste/waist space.

Ahhh.... competition. Kelly and Hiestand are smiling.

Exactly. I'm sure he wouldn't gloat about it if it wasn't lean.

Yeah you have all the usual suspects and you know how good they are or the potential they have and then you see kids like NMartin giving them a good fight it makes you really happy with the Oline sitaution. Just from seeing the little clips from UND on Hiestand I really like him and think he will do great things on the field with these kids to compliment his recruiting ability.
