The goofs over at Bucknuts are now throwing Montelus around as a potential flip. For an irrelevant school that can't recruit talent, other schools seem to want our guys.

They're such a joke. Not saying decommits can't or won't happen... but it's hilarious how they deflect from their own insecurities. Read back a month (like I just did) and they thought Pocic and Marcell Lazard were stone cold 100% OSU locks.

Now there are threads FREAKING OUT about Warriner and why they can't get good OL recruits to sign up. They don't get it. Meyer can have "any recruit he wants" yet Michigan has a consensus top 2 class and Notre Dame has 5 OL signed up who are all as good or better than OSU's one lone recruit.

I'm getting a strange sense [probably wrong, knowing my "psychic" abilities], that Meyer is afraid of Hoke, recruiting-wise. We seem to be getting a lot of interest "flip-wise", but I don't hear so much with OSU/UofM. I expected him to really go after Kalis last year once he took over from Tressel, but never heard that there was any interest by Kalis at all. It seems to me also that some coach [D'Antonio?] blasted Meyer pretty good last year for low recruiting methods against other conference teams. I don't blame Meyer for wanting our guys, who wouldn't?, but I wonder whether there are other reasons added in that make us a more regular target?

I think it comes down to nobody respects ND as a legit destination for a top-level recruit. Given the up-and-down (sadly, mostly down) nature of the program lately, I can't say it's a claim without merit. However, a lot of top-level kids can be sold on getting in on the ground floor of rebuilding the program to where it should be and being part of "that team" that restored ND to its rightful place in the CFB elite.

Then add in the 40 year nature of the ND education and the fact you will continue to receive your schollie even if you're injured and can't play, and there are a lot of reasons a top-level recruit with even half a brain would want to go to ND.

I read the thread over @ bucknuts and just had to shake my head......they are freaking out about their OL recruiting. The one person who threw out Montelus's name said he was "extremely high" on OSU....I knew be had made a stop, but I never got the impression he was that enamored by tOSU.....

Just as recruiting season is going to heat up, OSU and the other crazies start talking out of their a**, as if on cue.

I hope they have fun with Warriner. I don't think our class will leave H. Hiestand any time soon.

“@seanfitz247: HS competition isn't great but it wouldn't shock me if John Montelus turned out to be the best OL in Notre Dame's class down the road.”

Some real news

Not saying the folks at bucknuts are on to something with Montelus, but if it was the other way around,a la Elliott, we would be saying "where there's smoke...."

I had to make sure I stepped into John Montelus thread and not Aaron Lynch's.

2) When is the next time 247 updates their rankings? I think we're all expecting Montelus to get a huge boost.

They actually do updates on a weekly basis if they see the need for a kid to move up in addition to the mass updates. That's actually one of the things I like about 247, you don't have to wait 3/4 months for updates.

I knew they updated fairly regularly, but do you know when the next mass update is? I don't expect him to fly up the rankings without a lot of consideration.

Weird.

Definitely feel like this has the biggest potential to go "south."
