I wanted to spend some time to talk about a very underrated and underappreciated player from the 2008 team, Zion Azuma Losi. What a name, and what a player! I was doing some research and looking back on that '08 team on Wikipedia, when I came across Zion's stat line and was floored. You never hear about this guy, but he was absolutely dominate in his time with the Irish. I tried to find a recruiting thread about him, but he must have been a walk-on. Like other walk-ons during that time frame like Mike Anello, Zion made the most of his opportunity and completely dominated on the field. Just look at his stats from Wiki!

168 Tackles! That makes Coney's numbers look pedestrian. 10 Sacks, which is only eclipsed by Tuitt's 11 Sacks in the last ten years. 18 Pass Deflections, and 10 Interceptions! Julian Love, who? Finally he scored 4 TDs which is still an impressive number for a defender. Now...some detractors will point out that it took 16 games played to achieve these numbers, and still others might question how he played 16 games at all when the most games a team can play is 15 in a season (And we didn't even have a playoff in 2008), but Zion was so good he just found a way to make it happen. The fact that no other defender's stats are listed next to Zion's just shows what a dominating force he was and how he carried that team on his back.
Needless to say, he was a legend in his time much like Bruce Heggie. What are some of your favorite Zion moments? Let his legacy never be forgotten.
