That's a stretch.

He'll be an undrafted free agent I think.

Hopefully a team will sign him to a practice squad.

At which point I think he'll make a roster and eventually work his way onto the field.

He has the potential.

But I hate to say it: I worry about his personal stature according to himself right now.

He thinks he's one of the best. It hasn't been determined by anyone else but himself of that now. I worry a bad draft will make him doubt himself.

Not mentioning the millions he'll lose not getting drafted to his true potential.

Disagree. If he is healthy at the combine, he should do real well. His freshman and sophomore film is pretty good and he has made some NFL type plays this year. I agree with Irishff1014 for once and think he would be a late second third rounder.

Yea, KVR will definitely get drafted. His combine numbers are really good and he has plus size for a CB. Teams will covet his versatility

Wait. You can actually use a suspended season as a redshirt season?

That's absurd.

Why is it absurd?

Per the NCAA rule you have 5 years to complete 4 years of credits for the school. Doesn't matter when or why the player red shirted.

Combine numbers may look good, but the scouts are going to see regression instead of progression this year. If they don't already know, they'll find out about his lack of effort in practice this year. These are red flags. If he leaves, he'll get drafted, but it will be in rounds 5-7 IMO. He needs to stay to prove himself.

I've been cracking up with those fans complaining that "the backups" haven't been getting PT.

ND's got about a dozen rapidly ascending future stars starting. In some cases the backups are 3rd or 4th team caliber, for example, Dexter Williams was 5th string RB in July.

Between the season ending injuries, the banged up and limping, and the redshirted freshman, ND can't fill the NCAA Travel Squad Maximum of 60.

ND might have to suit up the Leprechaun for Stanford.

FIFY

As far as KR. I think that Johnny's point is so apropos that it is trump in this situation.

From this day forward, Kei's future is all about where his head is located.

Every indication is that there were miles between his perspective and reality; it is clear that he thought he was 'THE' lock-down corner, (ya'll!) However, on the field we have seen teams attack him mercilessly, and almost exclusively. Those two facts don't jive ---- which leads me to believe Kei's head is tripping him.

That always plays havoc with players attempting to make NFL squads, even those with the talent : Ryan Leaf; Cierre Wood; GAIII; DD; and on goes that list!

I do agree with every other statement listed in this thread; KR has the physicality; will impress at the combine; has the speed, and ability; etc.

However, that all isn't enough, and without the head, or even demonstrating that insane desire to better his own game this year, I think KR is destine to underwhelm through the interview process. Think chocolate.

We will see. I agree that KR has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to skills, but is all that enough to make up for a grabastic mental approach which has been amply demonstrated through actions, and every time the kid opens his mouth? I wonder.

So, my selfish desire would be for him to come back to prove himself and help his team.

Maybe he will do that.

Maybe he won't.

Whatever he decides, we'll all wish him luck and cheer him on.

I guarantee you Bogs and I would be happy if he elected pro then had a great draft.

I just don't see it happening that way. And Bogs, the players you used above as examples were perfect.

I would agree with this post now, except I already did.

Wait. You can actually use a suspended season as a redshirt season?

That's absurd.

Why's that? It's not that different than redshirting freshman year to acclimate to college life, as some do. Bigger issue to me is if he's on track to graduate in four/gain admission to a grad program at Notre Dame, which I believe is a requirement of any 5Y, yes?

I think he'll get drafted if he goes. He's a big, talented corner, good in coverage and an excellent tackler in the run game. He was certainly rusty/inconsistent at times this year, but if he's locked in he can be quite good. There may have been some lack of effort on his part, who knows, but he's not a "problem" guy. Middle round pick maybe?
Of course I'd rather see him come back and play his way into the second round next year. We'll see.

He might be a good candidate to move to Safety at the next level, good size has some coverage skills and seems willing to initiate contact. I think he would be drafted but he has 8 weeks to heal, that is mid to late Jan 2016. Then he has to get back into Combine shape, that might be tough, I am sure by Pro Day he will be fine but not a timely injury for someone considering going to the NFL. Would love to see him come back but the kid has had an interesting 4 years, he will have his degree and might just want to turn the page.

Would be great, heard his waiver should only be a "formality" but you never know with the NCAA.

Not to be that guy, but i think the '16 is reference to his gradation year.

Was my initial thought too. I'll be pretty shocked if he comes back. Think he was hell bent on going to the draft after this season before the year started.

Keivarae really needs more time... As long as he is allowed to stay by the NCAA, it would really hep him out to get another year. I think he has 1/2 round talent, but probably played him self into rounds 3-5 this year. He's a physically gifted guy, and he's a guy who can really help himself in the combine, and I'm not sure if he's going to be 100% up to speed by then

6 star recruit pitch probably summed up like this:

BK - So KVR - you want to be a lottery pick or do you want to be a 3-4th round pick?

Honestly think this is a mistake. All of the measurables are there but his gameplay isn't as good as it was pre-suspension. Kid needs to learn to find the damn ball..

Undersized and over rated but I did like his performances against USC. Cody Riggs is getting some playing time at the next level so why not KR? He could be a second rounder if he stayed and worked on himself. Think he should have his degree though so why not roll the dice? Out of character for ND to have so many under class man come out. Over achiever as a freshman and sophomore, under achiever this year. Good luck out there with Darius Walker and Cierre Wood.

He did fine at "finding the damn ball" in the past.

I think he had some rust this year, and also had some issues that were consistent with the secondary in general, that caused a regression. I don't think either of those things will be issues as he tries his hand at the NFL.

As much as I wanted him back, I think this is the right decision for him. My optimism for 2016 is quickly dwindling.

Sebastian coming back

Well so's Corey Robinson, but some guys were never a question. Pretty surprised at KVR's decision (unless as some say he had his mind made up from the start). To a lesser extent at Prosise and Fuller.
I do wonder how many conversations Kelly & co. had with these guys.

Serious question: Why? He's coming off a disappointing year that ended with a serious injury. NFL will still be there next year. If he thinks he can play better than he has, how is he better off leaving now?

His "highs" at the very least equaled his "lows" and I appreciate him a lot. Best of luck.
