I wanted to spend some time to talk about a very underrated and underappreciated player from the 2008 team, Zion Azuma Losi. What a name, and what a player! I was doing some research and looking back on that '08 team on Wikipedia, when I came across Zion's stat line and was floored. You never hear about this guy, but he was absolutely dominate in his time with the Irish. I tried to find a recruiting thread about him, but he must have been a walk-on. Like other walk-ons during that time frame like Mike Anello, Zion made the most of his opportunity and completely dominated on the field. Just look at his stats from Wiki!

168 Tackles! That makes Coney's numbers look pedestrian. 10 Sacks, which is only eclipsed by Tuitt's 11 Sacks in the last ten years. 18 Pass Deflections, and 10 Interceptions! Julian Love, who? Finally he scored 4 TDs which is still an impressive number for a defender. Now...some detractors will point out that it took 16 games played to achieve these numbers, and still others might question how he played 16 games at all when the most games a team can play is 15 in a season (And we didn't even have a playoff in 2008), but Zion was so good he just found a way to make it happen. The fact that no other defender's stats are listed next to Zion's just shows what a dominating force he was and how he carried that team on his back.

Needless to say, he was a legend in his time much like Bruce Heggie. What are some of your favorite Zion moments? Let his legacy never be forgotten.

Bad drugs? Sergio Brown was #31 on that team.

I assumed OP just edited Wikipedia for shitposting purposes, but per Wikipedia "Zion Losi" was added all the way back in 2011 https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.ph...Irish_football_team&diff=next&oldid=401549663

What, you think I'm playing the long game on this one??? This is the facts! Zion Azuma Losi was a beast!

The internet never lies.

How did he play 16 games in a season where Notre Dame only played 13?

The good ones find a way to get it done. Zion Azuma Losi was one of the good ones.

161 assists in a season will never be equaled.

All hail Z-Lo!

I like that, Z-Lo, got a ring to it. My favorite Z-Lo memory is when he sacked the QB to end the game against Georgia Tech in '75. He was NOT offsides.

Clearly you've slept on Zion Azuma Losi as well. Step up your game, ACamp! This guy was a legend.

I'm pretty sure he played a couple Friday games at the community college down the road and then for the Irish on Saturdays.

Stats were combined.

so underrated, never got his shot in the NFL, what could have been

I think he did but then he kicked a dog.

Here's a picture when Z-Lo was still playing Pee-Wee. You knew this kid was going to be tough, how he never received any offers I'll never know.

There was a recruiting thread, it was one of the few not opened by Crusader. It may have been inadvertently deleted during one of the changes in ownership/technical stewardship. Sad.

Following his playing days in South Bend, he signed a promotional contract with Coors to promote a walk-on product of theirs. The news release was headlined, "ZION ZOOMS ZIMA!" Both brands had meteoric careers in the twilight.

I didn't make Z-Lo's profile because:

1. Everyone thought he was going to skip college and go straight to the NFL.

2. I was only in 6th grade at the time.

Did you know that Zion Azuma Losi played in the game against Florida State in 2014? I forgot he still had eligibility after he went overseas to tackle Al Qaeda and Iraqui insurgents. This image comes up under Google search now. It's hard to tell which player he is hitting Jameis Winston in the scrum. Maybe he's all of them.

Zion Azuma Losi is the cousin of Kayser Sosi. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the Our Lady's team he existed.

Kayser Sosi doesn't exist. Keyser Söze does.

Just wait, next season we'll be recruiting a Kayser Sosi, or I'll be digging through Wiki and found out he was a 3rd stringer on the '88 team.
