My wife and I are currently in the process of building a new master closet in our bedroom. My wife saw the cost and hit me with "this is our Christmas present to each other, so we won't get each other presents this years". I'm fucked. This will lead to 2 scenarios.
1. I listen to what she said and don't get her anything, knowing that she will surprise me with presents. She will then show signs of sadness but continually remind me that its alright. It will not be alright.
2. I surprise her with presents. She gets me nothing. She in turn gets upset because she feels bad and it will be my fault for making her feel bad.

It's been an honor and a privilege to call you all my friends. I will see you on the other side.

Thought: Buy her a couple of presents, keep the receipts. If she gives you some gifts, you give her hers. If not, you return them. Win-win

See if Marcus will hold on to them next door from you for safekeeping.

I'd be worried he would get her gifts confused with the gift i got him, which is me in a cardboard box.

Perfect hedging opportunity. Get something nice you know she will love. Jewelry, handbag, whatever. Not overwhelming in terms of gifts, but just something "I know you would love, all the love and support you give the family, you deserve something to open on Christmas besides dick in a box".

Then show her the box.

Win win.

Easy solution is to tell her that no the closet will not be part of Christmas and that it just is something that needs to be done.

In my experience it's almost always Scenario 1. I concur with @Some Irish Bloke , buy a couple backup presents (Maybe keep them for rainy days even). You can either return them if she doesn't get you anything, or hang onto them in a safe place she won't check like your toolbox.

You better have a nice gift for her. Have a couple of smaller backups too in case she gets you multiple gifts, but even if not, you absolutely better have something nice for her. If she doesn't have anything for you, no problem. Just tell her you know she said not to get her anything, but you wanted her to know how important she is to you, so you got her something anyway. This is your safest path. You'll still be wrong no matter what, but this will be the least wrongest... most unwrong... whatever. You know what I mean.

I bought her gifts last week. They are just sitting in my office. I feel like they are staring at me, mocking me.

Gonna switch it to “Wives and the Awesome Shit they Say/Do” for a minute…

My wife saw enough Facebook memes about them that she started reading those lady smut novels. Basically just porn in written form with a consistent storyline.

I have benefitted greatly from this development.

You let your wife read? I'd have said nothing good can come of that, but...

Seriously, good for you, brother! This is the sort of story we can all learn and benefit from!

I asked for a new office chair for Christmas, I work from home and the chair I have is terrible. So, my wife gets me an Oura Ring. I don't wear any jewelry besides a silicone wedding ring. Anyone have one of these rings? Are they worth it? I do exercise on a regular basis, but this seems more for tracking sleep, which I do get well as I drink a lot. Should I say screw it, return it, hurt her feelings, and get what I really wanted. Thoughts?

Absolutely. Sex is overrated and the new sofas are quite comfortable.
