It just made me laugh,… my wife hates jewelry (more the waste of money it is), she isn’t a shopper and legit does not care about gifts. That makes it easy but difficult in completely different ways,… I never know what to get her, ever… at least if I swing and miss on a gift she just laughs at me and moves on. At my sons private Christian school I met with my sons 5th grade teacher a few years and she was a trip. She seemed to hate all the boys. I was so patient with her but she was just such a bitch. I never had a problem with her personally, but I also had several years of Spanish in grade school so it was a cake class. The summer after I graduated she hooked up with our OL coach and they got married within 6 months. My siblings said she was so sweet that next year. Sounds to me like she just needed that D.

Ha, our OL/DE coach in high school basically ran the program for our head coach when I played football.

He was a great coach, but he was an ASSHOLE. Classic movie-quality coach that is tough, but you realize after football is over that it was good for you.... but we didn't appreciate him at the time, so we just enjoyed commiserating with each other before/after practice about what a dick he was.

There were random periods during the summer, during the more-relaxed June practices especially, when he would be running practice and be in just the absolute best mood, though. He'd be funny, joking with us, putting our favorite drills on the schedule, using the last 15 minutes of practice to let the OL run routes against the athletes, setting up ultimate frisbee tournaments for voluntary 'extra' Friday practice, etc.

One of the former players who had come back to help coach informed us shortly after we started making "he must be getting laid" jokes in the locker room, that he was, in fact, getting laid.

The man just needed to loosen up!

(But then he dropped his girlfriend once August double sessions brought the true beginning of the season, and he was back in asshole mode for most of the year.)

Yikes,… y’all made me remember a bad one. My German teacher in high school seemed to hate all the guys and give a lot of the girls free As. Her husband taught history and was a well liked teacher. Her German class was maybe the only high school class I really struggled with. It was bad and honestly a lot of it was I just couldn’t get higher than a C on anything even when I was sure I should have scored higher. Many of the other students, mostly guys, felt the same.

So,… fast forward to winter break of senior year and it’s all over the local news. The husband was having an affair with one of the cheerleaders who graduated the year prior. Except, this thing was started while she was still in school like a year before… so he’s going to jail and their marriage is in shambles,… it gets worse. He ended up shooting himself rather than face jail time and she quit immediately and lord knows where or what happened to her. More drama: there was no one else to teach German so my final semester of high school we were all funneled into other language courses and that screwed most all of us over bc California had a two years of foreign language (one language not 1 1/2 years of one and 1/2 a year of another) requirement for both the UC and CS systems. This also extended to a shit ton of other schools so this whole episode ended with all the kids that chose German in my graduating class having to jump through all kinds of hoops just to qualify,… it was a huge mess. Looking back on it now I have no idea why they didn’t just get a sub to hand us out worksheets but they didn’t,….

Like a year or so later I’m away at college and I hear ANOTHER male teacher got caught with a student. However this time she’s still an active student when it was discovered. You’d think coming off the German teacher debacle the community would throw the book at him but nope,… he’s still a teacher at my high school (no, really) and the two got married the minute she turned 18. In fact she became a teacher and they both still teach at my high school. This is super wild to me to this day since I work in education but yeah. This was late 90s/early 2000s.

In fact my parents met this way also at the same school,… lol my dad graduated in 75 and immediately became the varsity softball coach. One of his players in 77 and 78 was my mom. They apparently openly dated her senior year and were married right after graduation. Different times… lol

Ha, we had a religion teacher that was on the opposite end of a similar situation. She taught our freshmen "Sacraments" class, and spent an extended period of the trimester on the sacrament of marriage.

As it turns out... she was having an affair. The kicker is that her son, who was a senior at the time, found out, and was so mad that he reported her to the principal and the Bishop of the diocese, demanding she be fired for what she did to his dad.

Catholic schools could have their own soap operas, I think.

Our one math teacher at my small Catholic high school "had cancer" for 3 years. He would miss days to go to chemo, would be sick, and more. He was also the head basketball coach, a decent one at that. He did not do much teaching, spending most of the time giving us basic worksheets on the same materials over and over again; we mastered the FOIL method. Anyway, freshman year he is still "sick" teaching us and coaching. Last two weeks of school he doesn't come to work, we all come to find out he never had cancer, and he was caught in his room with a senior female student on his desk. They did eventually marry and have 3 kids, so...love?
