Might have fucked up last night. Tried my damndest to avoid watching the game. Went to my buddy's house for game night. Everybody wants to go get something to eat, and of course they pick BW3s. Their choice had nothing to do with the game. I tried to veto it, but I was overruled. Everywhere I looked the game was playing of course. This curse is real.

You son of a bitch! That explains why they looked flat from the start.

Merritt should start over Bauer for the rest of the series. The Cubs struggle against soft-throwing lefties, like the Blue Jays. He also throws strikes (or at least did in that outing).

We didn't lose because of Bauer -we lost because we couldn't hit- but Bauer just didn't have it. When he missed, he missed by a lot. I also don't like our chances in a big shootout at Wrigley, and we often get into those with Bauer.

If you are going to get 4 or 5 innings from a starter, I wouldn't mind Salazar over Bauer and Merritt. I liked what I saw from him last night.

Don't think Bill Murray will look back on that moment as one of his better performances. Don't try so hard next time. Btw, this home plate ump have a kid on the cubs? Christ.

Utter disappointment. That few minutes was meant to be the culminating event of his life's work, and he went full Garfield instead of full Caddyshack.

All I kept thinking was that cubs fans have waited so long to be in this moment. This meant so much to so many and they got Sylvester the cat. Sylvester the freaking cat. Murray had a chance to rally Chicago and he gave them Sylvester the cat. I'm rooting for Cleveland but I still was embarrassed for that moment.
Next time Bill, don't make it about Bill.loved your analogy Steelhead. Absolutely spot on.

The Indians are bad for baseball. Only because I am a Cubs fan and I think them winning is a better story than Cleveland winning. Lol

Now if only every Cleveland pitcher can fall down some stairs and hurt their arm. It'll be a better series and not so nerve racking.

The Indians are great for baseball IMO, as were the Royals last year. The days of NY spending hundreds of millions and winning by default are long gone. The game has returned to chess, after being checkers for a decade and a half.

The Cubs also deserve credit for staying the course and building their team the right way.

FWIW, the Cubs payroll is about the same as the Royals. They've mostly built internally (Lester and Heyward being the most notable exceptions).

You shut your whore mouth! Both teams are deserving of winning and could use this championship, and the Indians are not bad for baseball. Cleveland as a whole could use this to help culminate a successful year for them after so many decades of depression across their sports. Chicago has had their success in other sports between the Bulls in the 90s, the Bears under Ditka (And a brief period under Lovie), not to mention the freakin' Blackhawks.

I wouldn't say NY won't return. They're in a rebuilding phase right now, but from what I hear they have some good talent in their farm system and they'll be making some moves to get back to championship form in the coming years. I don't think their administration will tolerate a long rebuild.

My team is American League, but I cheer for National League almost every year(pitchers should hit).....except this year. Ashley Cubbies, but you guys are the cute, docile, perpetually suffering team that baseball needs.

Go Twins! Go Metropolitans!

Cleveland: if this is your night, then congrats. I'll be sad and hurting for my Cubbies, but if the Indians win, they have truly earned it with a great red hot team.

I pray for a game 7 and a case of nervousness for Kluber if we get there.

Lastly, I'll be happy it's Cleveland if we get beat.

God bless our teams.

I'm beginning to wonder where this will rank in the Cleveland collapse/choke/disappointment scale, and which face will join Elway and Jordan on the "Mt. Rushmore of Cleveland Fan Killers"

Gotta have some hope for tomorrow, guys. We've got the best pitcher in the American League going for us in Game 7 and the best relief pitcher in all of MLB fully rested. Baseball is a funny game, but the Indians should still pull this out tomorrow night.

As someone who hasn't watched A baseball game this year, but will watch game 7, can you give me the low-down on the pitchers and relievers/closers for game 7 for each sides? Is there an ace on each side? Both sides? Thanks.

Let's get real. There is no way we are winning tonight. It just ain't happening. I love this team, and Kluber has been great, but it ain't happening.

A tip of the hat to the Cubs- they have played very well. I can at least be glad for their fans, who are the only ones to have waited longer than us for a title.

From a Cleveland perspective, of course, we need to learn how to finish series off. This is now the second major series loss in a decade, and in both series (this and the 07 ALCS) we blew a 3-1 series lead. Now, we were major underdogs in both series, had a worse roster, much smaller payroll, etc. Obviously, we are without our 2 and 3 starters this postseason, too, but c'mon. 3-1 lead.

Is it possible the curse simply took the summer off?

Indians
Kluber, starter, ace but on third start of series and second in row on short rest
Andrew Miller, the most dominant (long) reliever in the game, no pitches last night
Allen, very good closer, no usage last night
Shaw, setup guy, Cubs have gotten to him this series though
Otero, out of bullpen.
If the Indians have to use anyone else it's probably not going well for them.
Out of bullpen, they also have Merritt, Manship, McAllister, Salazar, and Clevinger.

Cubs
Hendricks, starter, ace, should win NL Cy Young this season, on full rest and has been near great during the postseason.
Montgomery, reliever, used shortly last night but has been reliable in postseason
Edwards, Jr., young fireballer that has been reliable.
Travis Wood, longtime Cub, former starter, is usually very reliable, but if they need him the game probably went to extra innings or something has gone terribly wrong.
Justin Grimm, reliever, makes me nervous.
Lester, starter, can go if needed
Lackey, starter, same as Lester
Rondon, reliever, former closer, used very little in playoffs but has good stuff, as a Cubs fan he makes me nervous.
Strop, reliever, set-up guy, again, makes me nervous, used very little last night.
Chapman, closer, 100-103mph guy, threw 20 pitches last night but should be fine for today.

Thanks. So basically, either pitching staff that'll be in play game 7 could be better than the other? There's no lop-sided pitching match it seems. That makes this game more exciting.

I'll take the Indians tonight. Beating a good team 3 games in a row in any sport is tough.

It is, but so is a starting pitcher having to beat a team 3 times in just over a week. Kluber is on his second straight start on short rest and his third start this series. Cubs usually do better against a guy after they have faced him multiple times.
