Thanks front runner. Let me know when you stop rooting for a team solely because they win more. Loser.

Umm.......... I was an Indians fan in the 70s, an ND fan during the Faust years, a Steelers fans in the Bubby Brister Era, and even a Canton Invaders fan............ I've seen plenty of losing seasons, and stayed loyal.

Want a medal? Where did your fandom start for all of those teams? When they were good. Quitter.

They need a safety big time. Worst safety play in the history of the NFL last year. It would have been an otherworldly day for the Browns had Jefferson jumped on board. Maybe Hooker or Adams will fall to them at 12 even though I doubt it.

The Indians were good in the 70s?

Pittsburgh is almost as close to Canton as Cleveland is. To be honest, my Steelers fandom was probably more about being rebellious in a house full of Browns fans, than about Pittsburgh winning.

You're freaking joking. I have family from Pittsburgh and have driven there a million times. It's at least and hour and half there and an hour to Cleveland. Don't freaking lie and make stupid excuses.

You seem to be taking this very personally? I'm genuinely confused by that...

Nothing personal at all. However, the level of front runners in this state who root for the Steelers is ridiculous. There's only one reason why people root for them. Stop making excuses and own it.

Not at all. The fan base from western Pennsylvania is great and I have a lot of respect for them. However, the ones with no affiliation with the city/state are complete phonies. They root for the record and history and believe in nothing. Their also the most arrogant and aren't real fans. They take the easy way out.

So do you have to be a ND alumni in order to be a fan? Cause I know a lot of people who became ND fans during the Lou Holtz era this way. So are most ND fans front runners?

In fairness, it is pretty unusual to root for the Indians and the Steelers. The Indians are not a "prestige" franchise that attracts fans from all over. Basically, Indians fans are either from Cleveland or its environs or (in my case) have a parent who is from Cleveland or its environs. Now, if Cleveland didn't have an NFL team (like it doesn't have an NHL team) then it would be different.

Kmoose, I'm not calling you out here, but I am interested in how your fandom(s) originated.

Here is the problem with that......

You're angry at former Browns fans who flipped to Pittsburgh when the Browns left town, and then never came back because the Steelers were good and the Browns weren't. But I was NEVER a "Browns fan". I can talk Browns history with most people, because I was surrounded by Browns fans my whole childhood. But I have always been a Steelers fan. And that's never been unusual, to find Steelers fans in NE Ohio. Paraticularly in Stark County.

It's not when the Browns left its that these fans rooted for the Steelers to begin with. They saw that the Steelers were more successful and latched on. I mean, why do something hard when I can do something easier? Everyone can scoff if they want but deep down those people know it's true. They wouldn't root for the Browns because they didn't want to root for a loser. So they quit.

I was born and raised in Canton. Well, North Canton to be precise. But, anyway......... I went to lots of Indians games as a kid. It was cheap as hell, because the place was half empty, even when the great teams came to town. When I was in High School, in the early-mid 80s, you could get bleacher seats for $5. Then, after about the 3rd or 4th inning, you could go sit right behind home plate, because the ushers just didn't care. So we spent a lot of summer nights up at the stadium. Football was another story. Even back then, my dad could never have afforded to take us 5 boys to an NFL football game in Cleveland. He tried like hell to turn me into a Browns fan, but I was a rebellious kid who wanted to do his own thing. I was also a HUGE fan of Jack Lambert. He was Lawrence Taylor before Lawrence Taylor was Lawrence Taylor. And the Steelers were on TV just about as much as the Browns were. So I got to follow Pittsburgh like some people only get to follow a hometown team. It's not like the Browns were BAD in those years. Hell, the 80s brought the Kardiac Kids to Cleveland. If I just wanted to root for a winner, I could have rooted for the Browns. But I liked the Steel Curtain defense. What a cast of characters; Mean Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, Mike Wagner, Mel Blount......... what kid wouldn't root for those guys?

So you have to root for the teams closest to home/have a connection to?

Guess I'm an Eagles and Penn State fan....

C'mon APac... If someone, while they are young latch onto a team, so be it. Kids don't understand bandwagoning. They see a team on TV all the time and start to root for that team.

Will you when they can't get rid of Osweiler?

Yes who cares? Sit him on the bench for a year and then cut him. Even with his 16 million we're still 70 million under the cap. His salary means nothing.

I really wish Manfred would just focus on selling and marketing the sport in a pre-Selig way rather than all the side shows he seems determined to invest his time in (more speaking to intentional walks and such than this but still)... baseball hasn't really sold itself in a couple decades now... this was my biggest hope when Selig finally walked away, but thus far?? Man, get to it.
