Hopefully, at the very least, fans will start showing up to Tribe games again. The attendance is garbage. More ticket sales = more revenue = better players. Bottom line.

Chernoff says we can't expect a 90s-type period of ticket sales again. Why not? The stadium holds 12,000 fewer than it did then. Metro areas with roughly equal or less population population than Cleveland that had higher attendance: Kansas City, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Chicago White Sox.

And no, this is not the worst loss in the history of the team. That remains the 97 debacle.

Is that stadium as much of a pit as it looks on TV? It's so dark and gloomy, like they don't have the lights on bright enough.

Is that true?

Because Cincinnati was abysmal this year, and nobody was going to games.

It's considered one of the gems of the new styled ballparks.

Right, but their attendance was still higher than ours (Indians). That's my point. Indians attendance is crappy. Fans need to step it up.

It's a great park, you should go next time they play the Red Sox!

I know I'm basically the poors (3 kids, one of which is special needs, and a wife that mostly just works weekends so the kids don't live in day care), but I don't think it's all on the fans. It's getting harder for the average American family to catch a ball game. Lets not pretend that baseball ticket prices for a regular, everyday game aren't overpriced. MLB teams play a billion games a year, and I think some stadiums would get filled better if the prices were more reasonable (Especially for the struggling teams).

I took the kids and wife to a Cleveland game this year. This was just before the Cavs won the championship, before the Indians started their winning streak. It was a weekday game, starting late afternoon. I called ahead previously looking to get into their family section in the outfield, and there was supposed to be a deal that night on those seats. The first guy I talked to was fairly helpful although a little bit slow, and was in the process of getting me seats. I was disconnected during the call, not sure what the cause was, but I immediately called back. The next guy I talked to was completely unhelpful. He had no idea what I was talking about as far as the Family Night deal, and he said no more of those seats were available. I tried to find some comparably priced tickets, but the guy was trying to sell me some expensive ass seats like behind home plate, the guy was awful. I knew the game wasn't sold out, and I had previously tried to book the family seats online but the website was also having issues and said none were available despite what the first guy told me.

Ultimately since I couldn't get the deal on the Family Night seats, I decided to take the family downtown and see if I could get into the game late by getting tickets at the gate at a discount. I've done this in the past, and often times I would get a deal for showing up to a game in progress. I figured worst case scenario we could do some things downtown if we didn't end up getting tickets. Plus with my one son's Autism I figured we wouldn't be able to stay an entire game anyway. Well, get to ticket counter, the first lady I talk to says they've ever offered any such "game in progress" deals in her time there, she's been there forever, blah, blah, blah. Nevermind the fact I've done it a handful of times before and was just there 3 years ago and did the exact same thing when my daughter was born...the ushers were even nice enough to take our nosebleed seats and move us down to the lower section, about 10 yards out from 3rd base (They made the offer after asking where my tickets were). She also tells me she can't give me the Family Night discount because you can only get that online, you have to pay full price at the counter. WTF?! In any case she told me to talk to her boss, so I go down to another window. I ask her what seats are available, magically the family seats I asked about hours ago earlier are available, and she says she'll give me deal for family night (Gee, thanks, cause by now it's the top of the 4th already). We finally get to our seats, bottom of the 4th starting, and literally less than half that section is full. From that point on everything was beautiful. Everybody had a great time with a great win, had a homer land near our section, and we left just as the kids were getting restless at the end of the game.

TL:DR version: I've never been given such a run around to get some seats, all I was trying to do was get the deal that they advertised! There was no consistency between the website, the ticket office, and whoever I talked to at the Jake on the phone. I got the impression some of the ticket sellers were really pushing me to take tickets between home plate and 1st/3rd to fill in empty spots for TV purposes, despite the tickets being far more expensive than I was asking for. I'm scratching my head why they're no longer offering deals at the gate for games in progress. At that point I would think any butts in the seats is a good deal for them, and it's something they've offered several times in the past. It's not like this was a playoff, rivalry, or even a weekend game. It just felt like I was being price gouged at every turn, and all I really wanted was the damn Family Section that I was asking for all along. They obviously had plenty of tickets still available given how empty the section was, I really don't understand why I was getting such a run around. It used to be affordable to go to a game, now I'm pretty turned off to the whole idea of taking the family for an outing.

I'm not familiar with this issue, but obviously that is frustrating. Hopefully the sales people step it up, too.

I noticed that the game did a 25.2 nationally, which is the highest for a WS game since Game 7 of 1991 (ratings generally were much higher in the 80s and early 90s for baseball and football games). It got a 71 share in Chicago and a 69 share in Cleveland. (I'm honestly surprised it got that high of a rating in Cleveland.) Furthermore, Indians regular season primetime TV ratings were 6th in the league this year, and up 71% from last season. Obviously there are still a lot of baseball fans in NE Ohio, so hopefully we can rekindle the 90s Tribe magic.

The Jake and Camden Yards were the Crown Jewels of the "new stadiums." Extremely progressive styling of each paved the way for all these other new ones.

I'll never forgive the Sox for going first. Comiskey has zero bells and whistles all these other new stadiums do, and zero traditional appeal. It's a concrete slab trapped in time.

Sometimes, all you can do as a Browns fan is sit back and enjoy the little things:

It is tough being a Browns fan. On the other hand, we still have a more recent playoff win than the Bungles.

1st and goal on the 2...let's pass thrice. Nice play-calling Hue. Kellyesque

On the other hand, maybe he wants the Browns to have the top pick. I get that.

Houston Texans trade Brock Osweiler, 2018 second-round pick to Cleveland Browns

So, supposedly the Browns have no plans to actually use Osweiler. This is basically an NBA trade, and hopefully that's the case. Even if he played behind a poor OL in Houston, Brock Osweiler isn't the answer. On the plus side, Cleveland is giving cash, which they have, and a 4th round pick to get Osweiler, Houston's 2nd round pick, and their 6th. That 2nd round pick could be handy.
