Refresh my memory...is this the 8th or the 9th year in a row where you predicted Stanford would falter?

I realy haven't paid too much attention to Stanford recruiting over the years. Is it typical that they would only have five commits at this point (3 four-stars, 2 two-stars)? Seems like they are a little behind...not even in the top 50 at this point.

Yeah I'm something else. If memory serves me correct you clearly stated Hainsey wasn't coming here. And I predicted Davis going to ohio state

Yes I picked Robert Hainsey to go elsewhere after his first visit. We weren't even if his top 4. Nobody predicted him to ND after his first visit not even the coaching staff. After his second visit it was clear he was coming. So yes I was wrong, but at the time not a single person thought he was coming here. I'm sure you thought he was though

Yes, seems a little fall but they seem to add more kids later in the process when kids are admitted. I think they have the best QB in the country though.

Scout analysts said the 5 they think are most likely next. All their lists included OSB, Echols and Black. Some also add Paschal, Carter, Graham or Sarrell.

Yes! This excites me. I'm not overly excited about black but I love all the other recruits BIG TIME. If we got Echols or Paschal, Our DL haul will be pretty darned sweet. Both would blow the damned roof off.

When did we become the favorite for OSB? I thought he was a heavy Stanford lean?

No. Everyone has pegged him as a ND lean since his brother came here. Stanford won't make this one easy, but I have a hard time seeing not going to ND

After the scholarship chart on OFD I see 6 spots left with Kizer leaving early and added in one transfer(bound to happen) who are those 6.

Why would Kizer leave early? It isnt like he is a one man show for his team like the QBs that leave early typically tend to be.

Many believe if he has the year we are all expecting him to have then he will leave early. Physically, he's the most NFL ready quarterback we have had since Clausen

At this point not sure who the 1 OL would be but we need it I like your 6

Wiltfong has hinted they will offer Dalton Wagner out of Illinois soon. Really big kid and he could turn into a stud LT down the road. I just don't think ND will get any of the 3 elite guys; it isn't because the staff failed to do something, I just think distance/SEC will win out

Distance isn't the problem with Wills. He's closer than the all the Pittsburgh guys ND has been hauling in. It's culture. If Wills goes elsewhere, he just didn't connect with what ND was offering.

He's a big fish in a small pond coming from Kentucky. He either wants to be "The" guy at UK, or he wants to be "One of The Guys" at Bama. He's enamored by the football-centric, top-of-the-world show that Bama can put on.

ND doesn't offer the Hometown Hero vibe that he could get at UK, and they don't offer the Football Factory vibe that he likes about Bama.

Counterpoints.

He will not be the man at UK. His high school teammate is Landon Young. Wills is a borderline 5 star OT who has never played LT. If he goes to UK, he's back in not only 6-7 Young's shadow but the even bigger shadow of Calipari and his CBA squad.

Calling Bama a football-centric, top of the world show might be powerful when comparing them to Vandy or Duke but when you compare them to ND, not so much. Football is woven into the fabric of ND as much as Bama and is in the same Top 5 tier national brand. Every game is on tv and Showtime came to them first for their concept. All other schools like Bama, FSU & OSU need to be on top to get the daily national coverage. When they are 8-4 they go back to regional obscurity. When ND is bad, they get more coverage from clickmasters throwing shade. If ND wins a NC and goes 12-1, 13-1, a few years straight, they'd break the internet.

If winning a "guaranteed" NC is the most important thing then that's a difficult and legitimate feature to sell against in the sales process. Hard to tell a kid to blaze his own path and win a NC at a program on the cusp when high profile athletes like LBJ and KD sign for the ring(s).

I wasn't disagreeing with you, I was elaborating on your "culture" quote.

I then outlined why the cultures are different.

Wills wants to be a "Hometown Hero" at UK as a king of the hill (regardless of Calipari and UK bball, he'd still be the "man" for a year after his commitment, until people realize that UK football still sucks), or he wants to worry about nothing but football at Bama.

Those cultures are different than the combination of things that ND can offer him.

weak QB class this year

It's a weak class the following year as well. Watson and Rosen are the top prospects for the next two drafts. After that it's a crapshoot as of now. Right now I'm betting Zaire plays his 5th year elsewhere and Kizer returns for his SR. year.
