Take him Harbaugh. He has lost the 49ers team.

Is there actually any chatter about a midseason fire of Hoke?

Pelini, sure. Saban, OK. But does anyone actually "hate" Kelly or D'Antonio? They can be hardasses, yes, but they're generally not assholes.

If you're NDs coach, people generally hate you. It's part of the job description.

In a campus press conference Michigan athletic director David Brandon explained the surprising move.

“Normally we wait until the season is over to handle these contracts,” he said. “But yesterday’s performance against Utah was so impressive, we decided we had to act fast to keep Brady in Ann Arbor.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.... ahhhhhhh... hahahahahahahah!

Considering that Florida will be looking for a new coach and I think sumlin bolts for the NFL, Michigan will be looking at slim pickings.

Wow... it's like Weis all over again. Except with no schematic advantage.

IMO their best bet is to go after someone who's maybe not officially on the market but who has Michigan ties. Miles. One of the Harbaughs. Cam Cameron? I don't know. But that's how they do. Only time they went outside the family, it went even more poorly than this.
Of course, you most programs hire the opposite of their last coach. So. Mike Leach!

I dont give a hairy baboons red ass who they get, as long as they dont try to pilfer from ND, like coming after BVG or Tony Alford.

They need to can the AD first in my opinion. He should be canned immediately, with Hoke to follow after the regular season.

I don't see either Harbaugh or Les Miles in Ann Arbor. A guy like Todd Graham seems like a much more likely option.

Why do you think this?

Sumlin was desperate to leave aTm after last season. Allegedly begged Haden for the SC job. I also expect him to bolt as soon as he gets a better offer.

Agreed. Brandon will get the axe before Hoke.

Agreed on Harbaugh and Miles. Would have happened by now if either was a real possibility.

Though I don't see Graham as being more likely. Especially after their experience with DickRod. And ASU is arguably a better job.

We all assume that Hoke will be toast after this season. But what happens if they lose respectable games to MSU & OSU and beat the rest of the field? 8-4, no worse than last year but with some hiccups at the beginning of the season. Even with a loss in their bowl game, 8-5 would be an "improvement" over 2013 with some "momentum" towards the end. Does Hoke save his bacon? How about another 7-5 regular season with a loss at Rutgers or home versus Penn State?

Let's say Brady ekes out another year. They avoid a difficult Big10 schedule this year and next (oxymoron?). If they drop non-conference games next year against some combination of BYU, Utah, and Oregon State, but have (relative) success in a weak Big10, can Hoke stick around despite the angst of the fan base?

(I hope so.)

Well, they'll obviously try for the Harbaughs and Miles, all seem like huge long shots. Maybe if LSU really tanks and goes 6-6 Miles might bolt? Could happen, its tough to tell if they're good or not. They still have Bama, Auburn, A&M, Ole Miss, Florida, and Arkansas.

Greg Schiano could be a name to keep in mind.

SEC Coaches: Beliema (maybe sick of South?), Muschamp if he gets fired, Mullen if he gets sick of 7-8 wins every year

ACC: Addazio, Chryst, Golden, London if he gets 8 wins

Big 10: Fitzgerald and Anderson although switching schools in conference would be odd

Big 12: Patterson, Holgersen

Pac 12: Graham, Dykes if Cal finishes well

Coordinators like Morris, Smart, Pruitt, Foster

I hope Hoke has many, many seasons at Michigan if he keeps the current tradition of losing. That's unlikely to happen, so my next hope is that they somehow go into Alabama's back yard again and get Kiffin.

Biliema, Muschamp, London, and Fitgerald are all on the Hot Seat at their current jobs.

Mullen has a future at a bigger job in the SEC where he still recruit with his regional contacts.

Addazio and some of those other guys are newbies as HCs. They need years of seasoning. UM like ND and Bama is no place for HC OJT. (Brennan, Faust, D.C. Bob Davie, O.C. Charlie Weis, D.C. Mike DuBose, O.C. Mike Shula, et al.)

Serious thought offhand: if they can't get Harbaugh or Miles (I'd prefer Miles of the two, because I think LSU's advantage recruiting talent in state and in the South covers some flaws in his coaching, so he would more likely disappoint), I think they should look for a coach from a rising non-football school program, like David Cutcliffe at Duke. Similar academic considerations, seems to deliver....

No one wants to come to Michigan after seeing Rodriguez eviscerated. If you do not have lineage to the program you can expect a rough ride. Why would anyone in their right mind go there? This is one point where their arrogance is going to hurt them because their belief is that they can get anybody they want, and that is just not true.
