What about Royce Freeman as a RB that Loy is talking about he's elite and committed elsewhere.

I don't think this amounts to discrimination. Applicants who have exhibited exceptionally poor judgment are unlikely to get admitted for a number of very defensible reasons. For instance, guys who get expelled from school for dealing moly definitely belong in that category. Knocking up one's high school girlfriend isn't on the same level, but it's definitely a red flag.

But my issue is that Rackem didn't state it as a "red flag on judgment" thing, he stated very clearly that he thought it was a religion thing. And if it is, that's surprising IMO because ND is usually very vocal on not wanting to "push" Catholicism on students.

Hoping its Nick Chubb but we all will probably be disappointed and it will be like Christian Mccaffrey or someone like tht.

McCaffrey would make sense in terms of being a ND type of guy ... Loy's exact phrase was "major recruit," I think. Would we call McCaffrey a "major recruit"? If he means, "major college recruit," then yes. If he means "elite recruit," then no.

I don't think having a kid is a necessarily a red flag. In some cases it might make you a better student/player ... motivates you. Trent Richardson comes to mind. I very much doubt that ND judges kids for making mistakes ... they might ask themselves whether mistakes tend to indicate that the kid will make more mistakes. I'd expect that if a recruit with an unplanned kid appears for all the world to be using that kid as motivation to excel, like Trent Richardson did, they would still take him.

This is how I've always felt about Starks too ... I doubt, as many on this board seem to think, that being expelled from your high school means you automatically can't get into ND as a football player. It may mean that for non-football players, because ND can't take the time to learn whether every applicant is a good kid who has made a mistake or a bad kid who is likely to make more mistakes; they have to use the mistake as a shortcut to determining which kind of kid they are dealing with. But with football players, the coaches and dedicated admissions people do exactly that: they put extra effort into each recruit to determine whether they can make it at ND. If they can make a compelling case that the mistake was truly an isolated mistake and the kid has turned his life around, why not let him in?

If ND decided not to accept an applicant based on having a child out of wedlock, I assume it'd be mostly due to (justifiable) concerns about judgment, instead of moral concerns. And to be honest, I don't think this issue crops up very often. How would ND find out unless the applicant offered it up?

Davonte Neal got through admissions last year, and he had fathered a child out of wedlock.

I'm not saying that it happened. I was just continuing with the discussion that it "set a bad precedent." It was the language that bothered me. I was actually arguing, in my roundabout sort of way, that I doubted recent transfers have had anything to do with that at all.

I assume the recruit has to be a 4 or 5 star or Loy wouldn't really make to big a deal about it. I think it would have to be someone who atleast expressed a little interest in ND before committing. From that I think it's one of these players.
-Nick Chubb (ND offered him but we didn't here much after that so this is a stretch)
-Johnathan Hilliman (Wanted to go to OSU but offer wasn't commitable, also has slid in rankings)
-Bo Scarborough (Atleast Mentioned ND before but this is also a reach)
-Sony Michel (makes the most sense IMO. Had a great relationship with Alford)
-Christian Mccaffrey (ND type kid but seems solid to Stanford)
-Stanley Williams (Had some ND interest before committing to GA and flipping to UK)

Sony Michel by far makes the most sense. Would be surprised if it wasn't him.

never offered. I really think its Sony
Makes sense. Notre Dame has recruited Michel since his freshman year, and I'm sure Sony has good personal chemistry with Alford. And, Folston, Deebs, and Bryant may be sending positive vibes back to south Florida. An official visit this fall is a plausible possibility, and Sony may choose to run behind Harry Hiestand's Big Dawgs!

Hopefully it is Sony Michel, he was a favorite early on in the process due to being Deebs teammate.

As for the child thing, I originally said that not because ND looks down on kids who have kids, but they are more likely to miss home and not want to travel so far from their kids. That is the main reason why Neal transferred. Most of ND's roster comes from outside the region of Northern Indiana.

I feel like you're trolling me on purpose. You've clearly read this thread http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/leprechaun-lounge/179817-things-you-hate-more-than-offseason.html

Unlike Hood, Sony Michel continues to compete against athletes that can actually tackle., and potentially hurt you. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, continue to run the football for Charlotte High!

I am not certain as to what you mean by trolling, there are to many connotations associated with that word troll. However, I will say this, after reviewing the posts, anyone who posted on the thread Things you hate more than off season, should have dumb **** stamped indelibly on their forehead!

Clearly you don't know a joke when you see one. While you're passing out dumb shits stamps be sure to include yourself.

There are current and former players with kids. Its not earth shattering all of sudden young men become fathers.

As for the "mystery" kid.....Id almost take him over Hood. Name was mentioned to me 3 weeks ago, didnt think much of it. But Hood (according to Loy) went off the radar around the sametime. Id be interested to see what NDs gameplan is for recruiting the "mystery" kid and Hood. I honestly dont see why they couldnt take both bc of flexibility when push comes to shove.

IMO, Hood's film >>>> Sony's, and Sony's rated higher on every site.

That said, he'd be about as good as it gets considering who we have a realistic chance with.

IMO Sony has a higher ceiling than Hood and his only setback is that he already tore his ACL. Kid is a beast but I'm worried that he will get injured again.

so maybe I'm not following this thread properly but it seems Loy posted an update that included Sony by name and then mentions a recruit to be named later.

after which we all discuss the recruit to be named later as Sony even though he was already named.

sound about right?

who is it then?

Its Bo. I am sticking with it. Reason: Look at Alabama's Rb depth Chart and his versatility/size, plus I have no idea and I like Bo. I can only think he transferred to IMG to get into college, hopefully any college he chooses :) High School | IMG Academy

Alabama RB Depth Chart:
Drake (So.)
Fowler (Jr.)
Hart (So.)
Henry (Fr.)
Jones (Fr.)
Kamara (Fr.)
Tenpenny (Fr.)
Yeldon (So.)
