Anyone think there is a chance Tillery pops on his June visit? Have to think the offer is committable. Kid is a top recruit. Would be really weird pulling a kid from freaking Louisiana.
I think if we offer Morgan at QB either he or Beneventi will commit immediately. I'm actually surprised Beneventi hasn't committed yet and I kind of wonder if the staff is in a bit of a holding pattern figuring out what the heck they want to do at QB in these two cycles.
Didn't Beneventi say that he wanted to commit but his parents told him to ride the process out a little longer? I think we can assume he is Irish and I will bet that he is our first '15 commit.
Tillery could commit but if I were a top '15 recruit I would take a visit to Stanford no matter how much of an ND fan my family and myself are. It's just so early that I think he will at least check out another school first. But, of course, a kid from a family of ND fans, and an offensive lineman no less, could certainly pop on his visit.
Who was first?

So first or next, I am going with Tillery this weekend.
+1 from STLDomer
+1 from Ironman8
+1 from GITF
That **** got cubed.
So anyone else going with Hoge getting offered and committing before he leaves campus?

2014 class, yes![]()
Do we have an approximate guess on the number of scholarships likely available for 2015? It seems that if we don't get a lot of transferring we are going to find out what it means to have a great recruiting staff striking gold three years in a row. A very rough look by me seemed to indicate a mid-teens number.
It's going to be very interesting to see what the staff does this cycle. Will they max out the number of '14 recruits in lieu of bringing back some 5Y's, or will they be more conservative with the numbers this cycle in order to have a more balanced class in 2015?
With two full seasons and an offseason left to go, it's almost impossible to predict what the numbers will look like in 2015, but a quick glance at the numbers tells us the 2015 cycle will be a small class.
The junior class will see only 8 guys run out of eligibility after 2014. Add the number of 5Y's in 2014, let's assume 5, and that number goes up to 13. That's our number IF they accepted all of the 5Y candidates in 2015. Obviously they won't do that, but looking at the list (Carlisle, Daniels, Hegarty, Hanratty, N. Martin, Hounshell, Springman, Grace, Schmidt, Rabassa, Councell, Brown, Hardy, Farley) there are only 2-3 guys that you definitely don't bring back. So that increases the '15 number to 15-16. So, they will either be taking a small class in 2015 or showing some quality 5Y candidates the door in order to increase the number of '15 recruits.
Now obviously that '15 number will grow with attrition, but my guess is the staff is looking at a range of 21-25 in 2014 and will only get to 24/25 if the last 3-4 guys are absolute must take recruits. Meaning they will likely pass on lower rated recruits (in their mind, not the services) in order to bring back a 5Y and open up a spot(s) in the 2015 cycle.
Beneventi being Irish isn't a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
Just a bit of bad taste about a kid who by all accounts loves ND, would have academically qualified and seems like a great kid. As they say in my neck of the woods, Keep it classy.
