Tom Loy thinking Elko might be the guy.

I also feel part of the issue has been the QB play themselves. When I've been frustrated with Kizer this past season, it's been mostly when he's missed wide open WR's, and more often than not, it was the TE running wide open without anyone within 10 sometimes 15 yards of him.

Yeah. Kizer had no use for tight ends. The guy did not like throwing to the short middle of the field.

FWIW, Wiltfong believes that hiring Vince Marrow to replace Booker is a no brainer and that he is an elite recruiter and great coach.

They take Paschal, we take Marrow? Seems fair.

Ahhhh, yes. The dreaded Loy KoD.

Per Sampson, Elko did interview, unsure if offered but sounds like he wants it. He would bring his own staff and most likely keep Lyght.

Wait, does this mean we risk losing Ewell then?

Here's hoping that Elko is onboard by end of the week. Really impressed with what he has been able to do.

One name that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is Charlie Partridge. The guy has coordinated some really good defenses at Wisconsin (albeit he was only coordinator for a couple of years before following Bielema to Arkansas), has a great track record with Dlines (Pitt, Wisconsin - was the guy that coached Watt and some very impressive Wisconsin lines), has coached special teams, and is a very strong recruiter.

Also is not from the Kelly/Van Gorder/GVSU tree, but does have a couple of years of cross-over with Elliott at Iowa State

Good grief.

Shamrock and OC... what if I told you that on top of recruits/parents being on social media, they also read these boards? What if I told you that after an ISD member made a post about with a "letter he was sending to Swarbrick" that a parent of a very prominent recruit called an ISD reporter asking "what the hell is wrong with Notre Dame fans?" And then what if I told you that this wasn't uncommon and that multiple parents have noted to multiple professionals that the actions of Notre Dame fans over the latter half of the season up to today are a "big turnoff" and "troubling"? Those are direct quotes from players' parents everyone on here would REALLY give a shit about landing.

It's not about supporting Kelly because you think he's the answer, it's about accepting the fact that he is not getting replaced this year* regardless of how much of a tantrum you throw. So once you accept that fact, there is literally no logical or rational reason to act how people are acting with their ads and such.

Fan support is considered one of ND's biggest selling points, especially relative to some peers we recruit against like Stanford. These public actions being taken are not only undermining what is a perceived positive, but also validating negative recruiting and other concerns that prospects/parents have. If you can't see the tangible harm from these actions... but you do see a tangible benefit... that's pure cognitive dissonance.

*There's an outside chance that after the NFL season concludes something could happen. Very improbable at this point. And it'll have nothing to do with newspaper ads and snow messages.

Just going to leave this right here...

To be fair, I've never advocated for the newspaper ads, nor the writing in the snow, especially on a big recruiting weekend such as last weekend. I've said my peace about Kelly, and as I noted in the coaches thread, I happen to like Coach Elston, and I hope he's retained. I think Coach Elston, if he does stay/is retained can learn quite a bit from Elko, as I don't believe Elko will be here longer than 3 years if he proves to be as successful as he's been every stop of the way, clearing a Coordinator spot for Elston. I happen to think Elston is eventually going to be a dynamic DC someday, and I'd like to see that happen in South Bend.

Every time I see an image of this imbecile I want to lock him in a port-o-potty outside The Horseshoe (particularly one located beside a tailgater where chili is being served) and tip it over about ten times.

That's two intellectually stimulating posts today.

You've made it abundantly clear that you lack either the capacity or inclination to understand how things work. I prefer not to waste my time indulging someone in your shoes.

Or... as my grandmother would put it... bless your heart :)
