Ahhh, makes sense. Thanks for sharing!

While I somewhat agree, look how bad the teams were before he took over. If he gets Colorado to 9-3 or 10-2 this year, that is one Hell of a feat.
I think he is committed to Louisville. He seems like a changed person from a few years ago and had repeatedly stated that he is forever grateful to Louisville for giving him a second chance. Plus, Louisville has enough money to keep him around. Leaving the Cards now would seem to contradict his recent narrative.
Robert Prunty at UC might be worth a look for DC if other big-name DC's are off the table. BK could go back and screw UC good one more time and steal a decent coach.
UC put together a pretty good defense in '13 when he took over and when they had the horses to run his scheme. They were okay in '14, and took a step back in '15. This year has been a mixed bag (they did a pretty good number against Houston, but looked like ass against USF), but the pass coverage has been outstanding for the most part, and they are top-5 in the nation in forcing turnovers. (If you go back to his time with Tubs at TTU, the defense there got better each year until they left for UC).
He's also recognized as one of the better recruiters in the AAC, especially in the states of Georgia and Florida.
He's a guy that seems to be doing (kind of) more with less at UC right now, and his secondaries have always been solid in coverage and in forcing turnovers. Combine that with his recruiting relationships in the South, and it might be worth a look.
18 Stripes put out a nice article on potential DC candidates. The guy from Wazzu really intrigues me.

If Bobby D gets fired from UConn, would you guys take him back? Sign me up under: "hell yes."

I would, under circumstances that probably aren't conceivable.
1. He'd have to make some exceptions every cycle to his "ideal" measureables.
2. Elston (RC) manages the scholarship offers and roster management.
Essentially, both are steps to ensure that we keep proper depth across the Defense.
#2, I don't see as a big stretch, as I think that's what is currently taking place, to some degree, BVG didnt seem all that involved. And I think recruiting might be more organized than ever. Elston is doing a pretty good job.
However, I'd bet #1 would be a big ask. FWIW, from a coaching perspective, he's precisely what I want in the next DC. HC, I think he's in over his head.
FWIW, from a coaching perspective, he's precisely what I want in the next DC.
Precisely why i said it's probably not conceivable. But a majority of his faults were recruiting, which is what my statement was referring to. He was a darn good DC. The best we've had in a very long time.
Except for Bamas players said that NDs defense was extremely vanilla and easy to counter. That they (Bama) made adjustments and NDs defense didnt just like they knew they would.
That doesnt sound like a good DC to me. That sounds like a DC benefiting from having NFL caliber players who are just better players than the competition they played previously.
Until they were not.
I don't see how a coordinator gets away with not recruiting. First off, I'd think they'd desperately want to recruit. I'd be pouring over recruiting reports and taking the drool-stained pages of my wish list to the HC like a kid with a Christmas present list saying "Can I go offer this 5 star? Please, please, please, pretty please with sugar on top?"
Also, I don't see how a coordinator tells the HC and AD "Yeah, so I'm just not gonna recruit guys to make my system work. If you can find someone else to do it for me, that would be great."
I know these guys spend a lot of time on their Xs and Os, but at the end of the day, you need people to run it. So, get your ass out there and nail down the talent.

If you were wondering who the Notre Dame Fighting Irish would replace Brian Kelly with should the school decide to make a change after this year... Les Miles could be the guy.
According to Bookmaker Les Miles is actually the betting favorite to coach Notre Dame football for the 2017 season. The entire prop bet odds look like this:
NOTRE DAME HEAD COACH IN WEEK 1 OF 2017-18
Les Miles + 155
Brian Kelly + 175
Urban Meyer + 2500
Dan Mullen + 2600
David Shaw + 2700
Field -145
Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick has already publicly stated that Brian Kelly will be the head coach in 2017, but as we all know things can change for all types of reasons.
Miles has been a name that some Irish fans have been throwing around since he was fired by LSU a few weeks ago. Miles is an Ohio native (bonus) that played for Michigan (bummer). He won a national title with LSU in 2007 (and in strange fashion with 2 losses on their record) and he has won the SEC title two times.
I am in no way suggesting that this will happen, and am only mildly suggesting that I might like this move- I’m just reporting that there is in fact a prop bet on this scenario, and Les Miles is the favorite.
Do not want.
Vegas has Les Miles as the favorite to be the coach at ND next year.
Les Miles Is The Favorite To Coach Notre Dame Football In 2017 - One Foot Down
I prefer other candidates but if I have to choose between Les and BK I go Les every time.
