I WILL NEVER ROOt FOR MICHIGAN!!!!!! Living in Michigan and surrounded by scUM fans I just can't do it. Just like Admiral Backhand can't root for SEC teams due to his location. I believe a ND fan can't root for Michigan unless it allows ND a chance to play for a National Championship. Best case scenario: Michigan plane crashes during Alabama practice, fragments then fly west and shrapnel a USC practice.

I won't be rooting for either. That would be too hypocritical for me to pull off. The best "resultant for Notre Dame" is what I care about, and I can't figure that out.

If I'm talking about this coming football season, then the best scenario for ND is if Michigan miraculously beat Alabama, and we beat Michigan impressively; Alabama going on to win most of their remaining games, and Michigan limping away from ND to go about 8-4. Notre Dame MUST beat Michigan in any positive scenario we'd dream up.

On the other hand, if I'm worried about future recruiting, Michigan beating Alabama is a BAD thing even if we'd wax them. People would remember Hoke beating Alabama for a long time.

I can't figure this one out. Michigan wins; we beat them scoreboard and physically; their team limps away to a 6-6 season which everyone says: "They weren't the same team after Notre Dame got through with them", and then we beat three out of the four MSU, USC, Stanford, Oklahoma, go to the BCS and win a good game there. Maybe that's a dream I could see us winning both season and recruiting.

Michigan is going to get good players in the future; that horse has already run. We're dreaming about who gets the Jaylon Smiths here.

I actually have friends who start at Michigan (Kovacs and Omameh), but I don't think I've ever rooted for them against anyone other than Ohio State.

I hate Alabama, and someone needs to end that dynasty before it takes off, but if Michigan were to beat Alabama Brady Hoke could get on quite the roll. He has enough rolls; Michigan needs to get stomped badly.

In the event Michigan plays USC, I too root for earth's destruction. But I'd probably root for USC too.

Our schedule is tough enough next year that we don't need scUM to beat Bama, then us beat scUM, to help us out in the polls. If Michigan loses to Bama and we just win our games, we'll be just fine.

To be honest though, I don't care who wins as long as we beat scUM. If we lose this year, it will be the first senior class at ND to not beat Michigan since like 1908 or something.
