When Michigan squares of against Alabama in Dallas?

I hate Michigan as much as anyone but I think I may dislike the SEC more.

On one side, I want to root for Bama just because I have a couple of Michigan fan buddies, on the other hand, if we beat Michigan and they beat Bama.....

Who you guys rooting for in this game?

Rolltide or GoBlue? I think I just threw up a little.

I also think Bama will win, but with the ND game being at 9AM and that game being at 8PM, it will be a long day of drinking.

Best cas scenario: they lose by a respectable margin based on a few big DR plays and a boring Alabama offense. That way, UM maintains their legitimacy before we destroy them a week or two later, but the SEC looks boring.

While I would absolutely relish watching the Tide fall to anyone (I am surrounded by obnoxious Alabama fans), I agree that it would just be too big a recruiting coup for UM.

Bama because I view Michigan as a legitimate college football rival. Alabama plays by different rules than us and as far as I am concerned is only nominally an amateur athletic team, student-athlete is a loose term in the SEC.

Not to hijack the thread... but out of curiosity who would you root for in a hypothetical USC v scUM game? I don't recall when the last game they played in was, maybe Rose bowl 2007?

If meteor strike isn't an option, USC. UM's proximity makes it a bigger recruiting rival.

I'll be the contrarion on this matter. Yes, i hate michigan so don't ban me , and yes i won't cry if they lose by 50 points. BUT, i have been thinking about this for awhile, if michigan wins that game, and opening games are notoriously hard to predict, then Michigan can rise as high as # 2 or # 3 when we play them.

If we beat MSU & go 3-0 we will move into or right at the # 20 spot.

That sets up a game i could DROOL over---# 2 michigan & denard coming into south bend to play # 20 ND behind Golson.

That win could become the BIGGEST win for us in 15 years. Its a possibility i can't help but covet.

Since who i root for actually doesn't effect anything, damn i'm gonna hope for a michigan win and a chance for us to become a REAL PLAYER this year after we PLAY & BEAT them!

I root for Michigan in just about every game they play other than ND anyway... tOSU, MSU, Penn St. I go for UM in each of those for sure...

and Bama fans are the worst ever... far too myopic and bitter...
